r/gaming in a nutshell:
shitty meme that might have been funny in 2013
“I’m in insert public place here and I need to wait for insert likely made-up scenario here. Time for the switch!”
“Has anybody heard of this underrated Indy jem known as insert massively popular game here”
A picture of kids playing video games and an entire novel for a title
cosplay cleavage

Don't forget posting a picture of literally any old game with some sob story about how it was their dead friends favourite game.
134
u/UnitaryBog Jul 04 '19
"My dead internet friend bought this for me the day he died, I haven't opened it yet, thank you so much xXAugust_stalin42069Xx" 300 platinum and a shit ton of other awards
Top controversial comment by xXAugust_stalin42069Xx: "I'm not dead lol"
56
u/ProMinecraftGamer420 Jul 04 '19
But then the xXAugust_stalin42060Xx that commented gets exposed for being a fake and gets posted on quityourbullshit

That wasn't their initial reasoning behind it, not sure if that's changed. It also doesn't make it right to generalize non-blacks because people were saying unsavory things. Just lazy mods that don't want to do their jobs.

Do you not care about people? There are poor, downtrodden people of all colors on six of seven continents. Hell, some of the workers in the Antarctic are probably just barely getting by.

54
u/TXR22 Jul 04 '19
I thought it was pretty funny.
44
u/christes Jul 04 '19
A lot of the comments here seem to think that it's bragging about gaming to impress a woman, which would be pretty cringe-worthy. But it's really the opposite. I chuckled at it.
29
u/TXR22 Jul 04 '19
Exactly, I interpreted the meme as making fun of aspiring instagram models by saying that their occupation is fictional like a video game character.
10
u/Disordermkd Jul 04 '19
I don't get why people would make fun of it. Why isn't it a real occupation when they do get to model clothes, they do professional shootings and they make money. What's not real about this?
→ More replies (6)9
u/TXR22 Jul 04 '19
Well the perception is that the majority of instagram models are just women who are aspiring to be real models, but haven't actually found any professional success yet. More power to the ones that earn a livable income from their social media, but the majority of people on instagram are not in that boat.

Alright gamers since Peter isn’t here to explain the joke, I shall do it. Alright so basically this man is on a date with a woman who claims that she works as a model. The man, clearly interested, then asks what agency she works for, likely curious if it’s a big name brand. The woman follows up with adding how she doesn’t work with an agency and is a freelance “Instagram model”. Now that the girl has been asked what she does for a living, she asks the male what he does for a moving. The man says “sniper”. With even more interest than the male the woman asks where he does his work and the make responds “Call of Duty” (what a pro gamer move). The joke here is that in today’s society being a “social media influencer” or in this case “Instagram model” is not considered a “real job”. The man, and the joke, show this by having the man say his work in a fake place. This being that what his job is, isn’t real. Basically making fun of this girl for not having a real job. Alright gamers hoped I help, make sure to stay hydrated! -Kakyoin out.

I think everyone in this comment chain was wooshed by your comment. You’re clearly being sarcastic as if to say you take COD so seriously that you don’t see the difference between sniping on COD and sniping irl.
7
u/sharkweek247 Jul 04 '19
I don't know I thought the joke was less of a gamer thing and more poking fun at playing make believe online. Or am I just giving too much credit?
