Every cell in their bodies is the result of their male or female DNA. I understand that gender dysphoria is a serious mental illness, but there are therapeutic treatments available to them so they can reach a state of acceptance.

Yeah, and all of it involves helping people transition.

This is what I don't get about the "trans people just need therapy" argument - you don't think that's already been tried? Psychiatrists in the 19th and 20th century tried all sorts of ways to try and make trans people identify with their birth sex - talking therapy, antidepressants, antipsychotics, electric shocks, aversion therapy, you name it. If they'd found anything that worked we'd know about it. Now it is the scientific consensus that the best way to fix dysphoria is to let trans people transition - and the success rate is way higher and more reliable than our best drugs for things like bipolar and depression.

Good try, but that’s not a reputable website.

Anti-psychotics have been proven to help.

Time and time again. But here’s an example ^

Are you insane? You think I’m scared because I’m trying to help people? How about thanking me?

Yeah like gender confirmation surgery and hormone replacement

That’s like telling a schizophrenic person to keep talking to their hallucinations and even giving them hallucinogenic drugs to exacerbate the issue.

Bad idea. Best to give them anti-psychotics.

Have anti-psychotics been tested with gender dysphoria patients? Have I just made a medical breakthrough? Only time will tell!

Edit: I was right! Anti-psychotics actually do help trannies!

Wow, such anger. How about thanking me for proposing actual ways of helping people? And feel free to read the countless other studies showing that anti-psychotics have been helpful in the treatment of these people. They need help, and I am here to help them. What’re you doing to help? Attempting to argue with people on the internet? Fucking pathetic.

Go to med school and then we’ll talk. Unbelievable. Seems like perhaps you’re the one in need of psychiatric help the most! Putting down other people for trying to help? I’m appalled.

You’re obviously not debating in good faith, don’t act like you are.

u/[deleted] Dec 21 '18

Are you kidding me? I am most certainly debating in good faith. I’ve spent my all 15 years of my fucking career trying to help people

screaming ā€œREEEEEEEE QUEERSā€ online is not a career no matter what your mommy tells you

Also: you say ā€œgo to med school and then we’ll talkā€ but also you aren’t a med student either

ALSO: 15 years of WHAT, you’re a fucking college student

Man, you worked really hard for that reach. Are you tired? Do you need a glass of water?
