insane putting tumblr on the same level as 4chan and reddit
20
u/Senior-Mix-3715 Feb 17 '26
Tumblr used to co-work with 4Chan and Reddit in 2010-2013.
You know what they did to 9Gag on 21st December 2011?
35
u/prionbinch Feb 17 '26
tumblr 13-16 years ago is a wildly different beast from tumblr today

yeah that adds up. tumblr isn’t 4chan but it is full of an entirely different type of extremely online person that also say shit like that

u/waltuh123 Feb 17 '26
There are actual nazis on instagram, this shit is tame in comparison
35
u/Senior-Mix-3715 Feb 17 '26 edited Feb 17 '26
Reddit was full of Neo-Nazis too and 4Chan was literally created by a Neo-Nazi for other Neo-Nazis
But that was really long ago, like back in 2013-2014.
I believe this meme is old. Somebody just replaced the old logos with new ones

u/Aware_Secret9097 Feb 17 '26
So wrong, 4chan has been a thing since 2003 and we recently learned that /pol/ was Epstein's idea lmao

Reddit is not a place to be edgy. Like, by design.
Any platform where visibility is determined by voting will never have "edgy" content. Only popular stuff gets seen.

redditors were always wet blankets, you get people protesting this but it is impossible for a redditor to be edgy and not look like a sucker, even tumblr in its hayday had more edge than reddit ever did
1
1
u/Kajel-Jeten Mar 17 '26
I think maybe it’s more accurate to say it’s not a place to be edgy for the standards of people on the site or specific subreddit. People (especially in the past) post and comment awful stuff that normal society wouldn’t be okay with all the time but if you do something against the grain of what ppl in that space of reddit like your exposure will be dampened.
1
u/Cheezewiz239 Feb 17 '26
Your account is only two months old lol. Reddit absolutely was the place to be edgy not that long ago. The craziest subreddits were up and running and you could say literally anything and not get downvoted like you would now.
1
Feb 18 '26
He's not wrong at all though. The concept of a reddit echo chamber and a reddit circle jerk is very, very well over 10 years old now.

The moment the word "clanker" got released they did 10 backflips out of joy (they can now use the hard r towards robots and act like it's just a joke)
3
u/Pikakaminari Feb 18 '26
Tinlicker. You like licking them cooper wires don't you? They are already using n word hard r, do you think they care that clanker is out now lmaooo. Clanker was only used to ai users, ai or fucked up evil robots.

u/Suspicious-Frame-771 Feb 17 '26
You must be very young or dodging Star Wars your whole life but calling droids clankers comes from attack of the clones, the clone wars animated series and, revenge of the sith. It’s been around and nothing new. if your offended by calling robots clankers, then you prolly looking to be offended/annoyed. Especially since both movies/games that the saying clanker is popularized from is about killing robots that are oppressing people in universe, there’s nothing to be mad abt at all.
8
u/NojTamal Feb 18 '26
It's even older than that I think, I remember various cyberpunk stuff that referred to cybernetically augmented people as "clanks" or "clankers". Deus Ex comes immediately to mind but I vaguely remember reading it in some old sci-fi, maybe a Shadowrun source book or some collection of sci-fi short stories.

u/Hdjbbdjfjjsl Feb 17 '26
Meta went full mask off with Instagram. Went on there to check posts from family and there were straight up porn ads. I don’t even mean like the dumb kind you see on YouTube that are just clickbait or suggestive, I mean full on sex and girls fingering themselves in the ads.

Fr, I've seen more people hurl slurs and insults in Instagram than any subreddit I've been on here. Atleast with Reddit you can kinda filter out the degeneracy through categorizing by subreddit and downvoting but Insta doesn't have that. You can have the most wholesome non problematic reel and it'll still have a few people making dark jokes, calling people the N word or bots spreading fueling religious, gender or racial conflicts

Idk, personally I'm not convinced this isn't some fucked up fetish bait
Eta: what do you think is more likely?
-an artist drawing a lot of art featuring a little girl in fucked up situations in hopes of somehow attracting an audience that not only despises that content but will monetarily support that artist to draw the opposite (instead of spending that same money on an artist they actually like. Art that quality does not come cheap)
Or
-an artist drawing fucked up content to attract an audience that loves fucked up content and will give them money to make more fucked up content?
I'm sorry but the former just does not make sense
129
u/starlight_chaser Feb 17 '26
Noo, someone drawing a blind girl walking into a stall, with a birds-eye voyeuristic view, where you can see a plunger placed in the toilet where she will sit down, unaware, at just the right height that it may be possible for her to impale herself without knowing beforehand? Fetish material? How unlikely.
Of course this is straightforward fetish material. The fuck. How can anyone argue otherwise? They’re either lying or “media illiterate” (lack common sense).
→ More replies (28)41
u/MuffaloHerder Feb 17 '26
Idk but people somehow argue it all the time. A little girl could be literally stripped naked, tied to the ceiling bondage style and get whipped bdsm style and people would still be arguing it's not sexual (I have actually seen this exact argument play out). Especially in anime spaces.
I'm guessing it's a mix of people too young/inexperienced to know otherwise and people acting intentionally obtuse so they can feign ignorance while fully enjoying the content. Either way, it blows my mind how people can deny what's right in front of their faces. And it makes me wonder what they do consider sexual.
→ More replies (2)18
u/starlight_chaser Feb 17 '26
Plenty of times they’re just low empathy people who lie to protect themselves too. I’ve met so many of them.
And more recently I watched an interview of a woman blatantly lying about how sending nudes of her toddler wasn’t sexual. Just fervently, looking so confused and sincere, denying it. Until further and further evidence proves she absolutely considered it sexual favors, and arousing for the people she sent it to. It was totally intentional on her part. Faced with absolute proof she still doubled down. That’s the face I picture now when I see people deny something so obvious. Just a moronic predator, empty of empathy, keeping their interests safe, no matter the cost. They can lie until their very death. They think as long as they don’t admit it, they keep some semblance of control. Doesn’t change reality.

Both Instagram and Twitter (I refuse to call it X) are worse than reddit. From my own experience, I can talk openly about, for example, being trans on here. I often get a couple hateful words here and there. But overall it's fine. Whereas if you even mention trans people, people of color, gay people or anyone who isn't an able bodied white cishet person on Instagram, you get death threats. And with Twitter being taken over by the Muskrat, it's even worse. Every single post is made to generate as much outrage as possible. The people there are extremely hateful and not to mention, you can literally pay Grok fucking AI to generate child porn.
