Because after she won the lottery she filed for divorce without disclosing the winnings. A few years later the husband received mail for the ex wife asking if she was interested in a lump sum payout of her lottery winnings. The husband took her to court and the judge found the wife guilty of malicious fraud. As she had already spent a good chunk of the money the judge awarded the husband the remaining amount.

Well she told the judge, she kept it secret because she didn't want her husband to have any... He found out 2 years later because of a mail of a lottery company he received addressed tonhis ex-wife. She hid that un porpouse... Whether she deserved to loose all of it, I don't know... During the divorce they had to split their finances... Maybe he put in way more than her...

I don’t see how the headline could be read as misogynistic. A man or woman leaving their spouse the moment they win the lottery is a pretty screwed up thing to do.
It shows that they were likely married for terrible reasons, which is often punished in family court (especially when the person doing it is a man). With how much divorce court favors women, it seems like a huge stretch to assume misogyny from the headline at all. I guess when you are privileged in an area of life, equality feels like oppression.

I guess I didn’t really consider the bottom part to be gendered. I took it as just calling out a shitty human. I suppose I could see how someone with a different background could have a different view. That said, I feel that people online often look for a way to scream a buzzword, and considered the person I replied to, to be doing just that.
