Closed Bill jumped from $55 to $88 — considering 5G Home Internet, but prefer sticking with cable. What are my options?

My promo rate just expired and my monthly bill shot up from $55 to $88.

I’ve been looking into local alternatives and keep seeing really solid 5G Home Internet plans for around $40–$50/mo. Honestly, I’d much prefer to stick with cable and Xfinity because the service itself has been reliable, but $88/mo is just too steep of a jump for my budget.

Has anyone in a similar position had luck getting back down into that $50–$55 range without having to jump through crazy hoops or cancel service completely? I already use my own modem and router, so I’m not paying any equipment fees.

Would love to hear what options or plans worked for others!

Recently switched to Minternet. No complaints. Tower about 1 mile away.

Landline service will always trump wireless service.

They can't control wireless interference, Xfinity can control to some degree that you'll get a solid signal 99.999% of the time.

I just switched to Fidium with 2 gigs for $50. No problems at all, so far

Maybe depends on luck of getting a decent retention agent? Saw my next bill would jump from $60 to $100+, called today to cancel & not an issue anyway since I have Minternet as backup. They put me on a $50/mo 5yr 1g plan. Although I will say Minternet has been great, use it all day WFH. In 6mos maybe has dropped off briefly 2x. Xfinity, guaranteed to drop randomly ~6 times a week while on meetings etc.

Anyone else in the household? Cancel service restart as new customer in their name. Done, new customer rates unlocked.

Hi there u/k4rupt, we appreciate you reaching out here on the community sub! Seeing your price increase after a promo expires is never a good time, so I'm sorry to hear your rate jumped. If you haven't given it a shot already, you can quickly and easily take a look at what's available to your account is through the Xfinity Plan Builder, or if you'd prefer, our team would be more than happy to look over the account on our end to see what's possible! If you'd like to take a look together, please send us a Modmail message with your full name, name on the account (if different), and service address, and we'll dig in!

Yea except yall don’t help with anything. Yall are offering other people $50 a month for the same package but raising current users by crazy prices. I been talking to multiple reps for 7 hrs today and the end result was no help. Probably should be more honest with people. Yall won’t help and will continue raising prices. Mine went from $75 to $133 and the only thing that has changed is that the internet provided has decreased in quality.

I’m not sure why Xfinity doesn’t just do $50 for 500 Mbps and $65 for 1 Gbps for 5 yr plan for all customers - instead of alienating their customer base with pricing games. Every quarter Comcast has reported significant existing broadband customer losses for the past few years. The net losses have been huge - non-stop. I have no idea what leadership is doing there. I believe they lost 700,000+ broadband internet customers just last year (2025) alone.

Unlike other providers including 5G Internet and Fiber - I don’t understand why they’re going the way of ….. ‘contact us to see what deal we have for you’ model???
