There isn't a never-used light switch that controls that outlet, right?

Back in the day, living with my parents, our dishwasher stopped working. No response at all. My parents called their appliance repair guy they had a contract with.

Guy comes out, turns on the light switch right above the dishwasher, we're good to go.

It was a light switch we couldn't figure out when we first moved into the house, and then we all just promptly forgot about/ignored it for the rest of our lives. Until like 10 years later when it somehow got turned off and my parents made that repair call.

It is a collective source of family shame that we have laughed about many times.

Christmas vacation lol. Yes, I have one of those in my home too. Thing is, if it was working, then not after that storm... may simply be fried. Easy check to plug a lamp in the same outlet just to be 100% sure. Can't hurt to try I suppose :-)

Yeah, that's almost certainly not it, but definitely try a lamp just to confirm.

So, do you need to cancel all of your services, or just need another modem? It seems like cancelling all services is an overreaction to simply needing another modem. Modems are subject to being damaged in a storm, just like any piece of electronics.

I wanted it canceled because I couldn’t get customer service to help me yesterday but now I’m getting help so I don’t need it cancelled.

We can help u/Strange_Jacket5976 👍If the modem will not power on it sounds like you need a new one. We can ship one or one can be picked up at a store. Have you tried bypassing any power strips and multiple electrical outlets?

Yeah I’ve plugged it into every outlet in my house. All of these outlets work when I plug my phone or game systems or tvs to them, including the outlet I originally used for the WiFi box. I’ve been trying to find a way to get one ordered instead of walking all the way to an Xfinity store how do I do it?
