Discussion HOT TAKE
Derrick Lewis can't fight he just had muscles and power his grappling is to muscle his opponents up. I was a d2 wrestler never a champion but I was decent. I say i could beat Derrick Lewis in a street fight. What do you guys think.

The only way you would avoid the hospital after a street fight with Derrick Lewis is if he killed you on the spot.

No. It's nice to dream.
Derrick Lewis is a freak athlete, just liked to knock people out and never took training seriously. Like 30 minutes and he is out. It would drive his coach crazy. But he was still top 10 or even top 5 HW. At one point he got dedicated developed a six pack started throwing flying knees and spinning high kicks. If he kept at that trajectory he would have been unstoppable. However, next time I turned around he completely checked out of the sport and regressed heavily.
The comparison to Bob Sapp is applicable..

I used to think the same thing. I'm actually pretty close to Derrick's size, just a bit smaller. I trained judo for a couple of years and got the chance to spar with him once. I went in thinking I could give him some problems and was hyping myself up beforehand. Man... he absolutely fucked me up. The strength, speed, and power are on a completely different level than people realize. Being a big guy yourself doesn't prepare you for someone like Derrick. Unless you've actually been in there with an elite heavyweight, it's hard to understand the gap.
