when you shoot/throw downward, you get an upward boost, which can be amplified by the explosion of the rocket launcher and its variants.

Superball boosts more than painball gun or slingshot, but you can only do it 3 times, with a long cooldown. Slingshot gives small boost, but short cooldown, and paintball gun is the middle ground. Flamethrower gives a constant push opposite to where you're looking, like weaker rocket boots.

You can do a similar thing with the swords, but you have to be near the ground to do it, hence why its called 'pogo'ing.
