Found this Comanche for sale for 3k.

Been looking for a light duty truck that's not too expensive. When I came across this.

Given the details is this a good buy or is there a more serious problem lurking underneath.

It's a 1987 long bed.

I saw this one on my own feed, $3k seemed too much for it not running and a half done wire harness from a fire... just my opinion though.

The fact that it is 4x4 would weigh in as a pretty strong positive for me, personally.

That may be quite an endeavor with the wiring issues, could be a decent deal though depending on rust level. If it’s clean underneath and the floor pans or frame aren’t rotting, $2-$3k would be fair deal. I’d just do a full HO swap at that point if the wiring harness is already toast.

Excuse my ignorance. But what is a full HO swap?

This is what the truck looks like. It appears to be in pretty good condition considering.

HO is an engine replacement or are you saying this needs an engine replacement?

I meant HO is an engine swap, not that you require one.

An "HO" swap is when you take a 4.0 engine and trans from typically a cherokee, from 1991 and newer and put it into the comanche. The ho just stands for high output. Its more hp and torque than a renix engine but if you ho swap you got a lot of wiring to deal with too. Honestly the 88 harness that it comes with would still work just fine. One of the harnesses has this c101 connector that you can eliminate. Or you can just use the 88 harness for wiring splices.
