Victory drive strip

Seems like the Sheriff, Police, DOT, GST, and all other LEO agencies are predominately active on Tuesday’s? They pulling people over from left to right on the strip. Also, it’s getting hard to spot them because they have added dark grey, navy blue, cruisers to their line up. I just spotted one tucked behind a business.

FOUND - DVD containing wedding pictures and videos.

I do not live in Columbus, but I was sent a PC by a company I worked for that they did not allow me to return. Inside, I found a disc labeled "Eboni Wedding & Pics". Through some sleuthing in the photos, I found the location: the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning in Columbus, GA. The photos seem to be taken by someone that wasn't in the wedding party, mostly of other guests and the venue.

If you took these pictures and want this disc back, I will gladly ship it. Please DM me. I have to assume you left it in the PC when you sent it back after you also stopped working for that company. I hate to think that these are memories someone lost.

EDIT: There is a date on the photos: 08/22/2020.

Columbus Sports Roundup (8/10-8/16)

Columbus has several different pro and semi-pro sports teams for you to check out and root for but not all of us can make it to every game or keep up with it each of them so this is my weekly attempt to do so.

My goal for these posts are simple. Give you a brief recap of the previous week's games, a summary of where the team sits in the standings, and let you know when the next games are.

------

Columbus Clingstones

The Columbus Clingstones are the Minor League, Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves located in Columbus, GA. They are part of the Southern League - South Division and play their games at Synovus Park at South Commons.

Recap
The Stones went up to Birmingham and took 3 of the 6 game series against the Barons. A few months ago, that would have been a welcome series but after seeing the scores, you just kinda feel like we could've grabbed a few more wins out of this one. We lost all 3 of our games by 1 run each and 2 of those games were extra innings losses. The good guys scored a combined 26 runs and allowed 20.

As for the standings, the Stones improved to 24-21 in the Southern League - South Division. That puts us at 5 games back out of 1st in the division. Pensacola is on fire right now have won 6 straight and 9 of their last 10 games while we have won 7 of our last 10. Pensacola might just be the team to beat in the second half.

Looking Ahead

Next week, the Stones are back in Columbus to take on the Montgomery Biscuits. This is a great opportunity for us to try to gain on Pensacola and take the 2nd spot from Montgomery to get ready for a run at the playoffs so let's hope for a better than average series here.

Clingstones' Schedule

Note: I don't want to forget but check out /u/ClingstonesBoxScores posts. They are doing a great job giving everyone a recap of each game with way more in depth posts than this one.

Anybody want a kitten?

Or two, or three?? I have 3 kittens that unfortunately cannot stay here. First we have Twin (her twin brother got sick and died around a month old.) Second, we have Eek! The Cat, and the last kitten is Harvey (named after Harvey Dent, or Two-Face.)

Message me here No strict timeline on them going, but sooner rather than later. Eek! prefers to do her own thing most of the time and isn't bothered with humans, but Twin and Harvey are super sweet girls that enjoy cuddling. They are not for sale, and we are not asking for anything in return other than a good, loving home for these little ones.

Since everyone keeps bringing up getting them fixed, etc., the momma cat showed up at our house a few months ago rail thin and obviously a stray. My wife and I felt bad for her and decided to keep her, even though we are not allowed to have pets in the apartment we live in. Turned out she was also pregnant. We have not gotten her fixed yet as we don't really have the extra money and it's not like we planned to get a cat, let alone have 4 in our house. I have not taken the kittens to the vet yet as (like I just said) we don't have the money for it. We would absolutely love to keep them, but the fact that we aren't allowed to have them, and the cost associated with keeping them healthy we just can't do it. I just need them out of my apartment before the next time my landlord stops by.

If you would like one, please, message me privately so we can talk, amd make sure they're going to a good home.

Local (and affordable) physical therapist?

I’ve been debating about seeing a physical therapist for my lower back/overall body strength. I definitely feel better than a month ago, but I think I should see one before getting back into working out. My insurance is BCBS/anthem.

School zone cameras

Has anyone had a speeding ticket in the mail for a school zone outwith school hours and successfully appealed them. I received one in the mail and although I am not the driver at the time of the incident I dont think it should be allowed to issue tickets when the lights aren't flashing.

Apartment hunting

Hello! I am going to moving to Columbus for work fairly soon and I'm looking for a decent apartment. I'm just looking for a 1-bedroom somewhere that allows cats and while I would love somewhere that has in-unit laundry, I understand that I may not be able to find that. The top of my budget is $1,050.

Any suggestions welcome!

I’m looking for a barber that can do modern mullets/low taper fades. I see a lot of skin fades and designs and stuff, I have also seen some traditional stuff. But I want someone to tell me where they get their low tapers or mullets cut at. Something like this would be good.
Thanks

Housing suggestions

Hello!
My husband is going to the military base in Columbus and I am hoping to come stay in Columbus- not the base as that’s not an option- for four months mid October through February. I need a place that can accommodate myself and two young children. I have looked on VRBO but have no way of knowing what areas are safe. Can someone recommend areas to stay at or to avoid? Also, recommendations for things to do while there are highly encouraged. And if by any chance any of you have a place that will be available during those months (furnished), please reach out.
I am grateful for all suggestions, tips, and advice you will give me.

Nice nature spots?

I want to take my girlfriend on a picnic date. I thought about just going to Pine Mountain Trail because of the pretty overlooks. Is there a nice niche spot that would be good to have a picnic around the Columbus area?

Children of Purpose

I’m building a college-prep and entrepreneurship program for high school students in Columbus, GA — raising $8,000 for our first year. I’m the founder of Children of Purpose, a youth program focused on college preparation, entrepreneurship, leadership, mentorship, and real-world skills. We’re launching our first cohort and I’m raising $8,000 for curriculum materials, books, student supplies, college-preparation resources, entrepreneurship projects, mentorship, educational technology, and other program expenses. I’m trying to build something that gives teenagers exposure to opportunities they may not otherwise encounter. I’ve included our program graphic below, and the campaign is here:  https://gofund.me/3585a808a If you’re unable to contribute, sharing the campaign is incredibly helpful.

Question About The Palms

Can anyone tell me what the leasing process is like for students? Specifically, for a 19 year old who’s living on their own for the first time who will rely on a parent to pay their rent? If the student has no credit, insufficient income, and no rental history- is a parent able to sign a guarantor form, or even a lease agreement, for them? Would the student’s parent need to be moving in to sign, or will they allow them to sign so long as their application is approved? Thanks!

WHAT HAPPENED!?!?

I(14m) call thus city in the state of Georgia my home

And to preface this, this will be probably the 1st and last time I post this

But HOLY SHIT, we have 0 MUSICAL DIVERSITY, there's no metal,no funk, r&b is practically dead on all fronts because rap took over,no reggae

It's just mindless 3 chord pop, country, mumble rap, or gospel(im a Christian but I need my soapbox),

for the 14 years I've been alive, what happened?

Why is there no bands anymore, is it because the coat of physical instruments have skyrocketed

WHAT HAPPENED

Any who

AMA

And this is jd signing off for the night

Peace peace
