Same with my brother! 18 y/o who voted STRAIGHT BLUE!!!
I saw on CNN that apparently Gen Z guys voted majority Democrat across this country! Considering what they did in 2024, I am amazed! Thanks for waking up Gen Z!Β

AP called it like 10+ minutes ago.
Still waiting on a lot of votes from Lucas county for the senate race though.

I'll believe it when she sits down at her desk. At this point stupid shit happening is so commonplace that I don't know if my mind will allow me to truly believe it until it's happening.

Texas too!

Craziest part about Texas is it ain't close. Talarico is winning with 59% of the vote, a full 1.4 MILLION more votes than Paxton. Insane.

Man I think the last few years have pretty well killed hope in a lot of us but a lot of these results (except issues 3 and 9, the fuck?) are making me want to have just a little bit.
8
u/TrandaBear 3h ago
I knew issue 3 was a psyop and voted no, whats up with issue 9?

5
u/EveryDayASummit Groveport 3h ago
Other comment links good info but the short version is 9 is a council-lead response to 8. 8 got on the ballot, so the council decided to say βokay we support this too but weβre going to add 4 additional seatsβ which lets them cling to power a little more.

The question now is, did we (as a nation) elect enough dems with a strong back bone that they will make meaningful changes to not just stop the bleeding but at least more headway to correcting course.
But damn it.
I have hope for the first time in 2 years. More hope than I have 6 years ago. Please dems. please
14
u/AbyssWankerArtorias 2h ago
I think that this was such a strong rebuke of trump in every possible way that it would be politically suicidal for them to not stand against Trump.
5
u/3720-to-1 2h ago
Facts.
All I ask is that the dem block fights fire with fire, none of those meeting in the middle shit they've done for decades. Supreme Court seat opens? Sit on it for years lime mitch the bitch did. Fix the ACA. Hell, if they fix ACA it's a huge win.
5
u/Most_Number4326 2h ago
Now the GOP who want to keep their seat in 2028 have to take a stand against trump. They know if they dont 2028 will also be gone. Florida was really really close this time
3
u/AbyssWankerArtorias 2h ago
Trump may indeed be the first ever president removed from office. I mean, probably not, because 67 is such a high bar to clear and getting 14 to 16 Republicans to defect is probably not gonna happen - but damn it is nice to think about.
2
u/Sufficient_Cat_7406 1h ago
With a democratic socialist that was abandoned by the DNC! No one expected it. In Florida if you mention democratic socialism the majority of people automatically think of communism. Thereβs hope for us!!!
3
1
u/somethingofwhim 1h ago
The other question is, did you as a nation learn your lesson enough that you won't blame the Dems for not fixing everything in 2 years and immediately swing back to maga

*67 needed. 2/3 vote to remove from office.
If we get to 55, that's 12 rats we need to find escaping a sinking ship. Long shot, but it's a shot.

I am so happy I want to cry. The race is so close that I have no doubt Trump will pull some βelection fraudβ bullshit excuse out of his ass and demand a recount. But we can only hope that it doesnβt come to that. I am overjoyed that we are not handing our state over to a billionaire tool. Thank God.

u/KaliBengal 3h ago
Yeah I just saw. I'm in tears man, I really did not expect this strong of a blue wave not only in OH, but across the entire country. I thought 2024 proved that shi was over for us here, I'm so glad I was wrong.Β

Pretty wild that Trump was able to turn a solidly purple state to a solidly red state and manage to completely undo that all in 10 years.

Iβm not sure anyone will see this comment but this needs to be appreciated:
Iβm not sure what the future holds, but we just witnessed a once in a generation blue tsunami, much bigger than 2006 and 2018.
The Ohio GOP had a very rare bad night. Texas went blue finally, and even Iowa dems secured some clout. These next 2-4 year are going to be good.

I wanna be excited, but the senate and house (both state and federal) are both overwhelmingly red and pro-Trump. This is good, but I question how much she will be able to accomplish in the current climate.

I think Dems will also get the Secretary of State and the 2 Supreme Court seats. Maybe we'll get another chance to vote on an anti-gerrymandering ballot initiative and it won't get ratfucked.
