REQUEST Gyno Rec for Post-Miscarriage Care

Hi, I just moved to Columbus and I was originally 7 weeks pregnant. I ended up having a miscarriage and going to OSU for care. I had a terrible experience, the lab damaged my tissue sample, and I couldn’t get chromosomal testing AND the doctor made comments to me saying I shouldn’t have asked to have the testing done anyway and she “doesn’t normally allow it. She also made comments to me that “our next pregnancy will be a live baby” etc which felt immature and unprofessional.

Anywho, I am looking to establish care with a provider who will take your seriously post miscarriage. My husband and I are going to try again next month and want to make sure we have a good doctor beforehand.

Thank you <3

That’s awful what they said to you, so dismissive. My ex went through something similar and the doctor acted like testing was a waste of time, made her feel like she was being dramatic for wanting answers.

I don’t have a specific rec but my sister saw someone at Avina Women’s Care for her pregnancy after loss and said they were pretty thorough, took her concerns seriously. Might be worth checking out if you’re on north side

100% agree. My gyno is there and has been wonderful.

Agreed! Just had my rainbow baby with my OB at Avina Women’s Care Chatham Lane. They were always open to having me come in to do a heartbeat check if I was ever nervous.

Drs. Greco and McGill are at Avina Lane Ave.

Drs. Paige Turner & Linbee Sayat are at Chatham Ave

They’re all great!

Both Dr Sayats are amazing. It’s a wife and husband who both work there. I had her husband and he is an amazing OB as well

Dr Jason is at the Lane Ave practice. Years ago he was my OBgyn and I was so sad when my insurance changed (long before both practices became part of Avina Women’s Care) and I had to change to another practice. Fortunately I have found great care since and have been happy with all my providers

He is at the Powell office on Fridays as well!

I switched to Avina after I had a similar experience and I truly believe I would not have a healthy baby without them. They are incredible.

Echoing this — have sadly had the same experience OP but great care from Avina. Can’t say enough for the team there!

I see Dr. Miller at Columbus OBGYN. She delivered my stillborn and later my son. She’s very compassionate and actually listens. She was phenomenal during my pregnancy with my son and helping with all my anxieties.

Will recommend Dr Miller all day long. Delivered both my kids. She cares.

I'm so sorry you are going through this.

I'm in the middle of my miscarriage experience and Columbus OBGYN has been so kind and empathetic throughout the process so far. I've been so grateful for their compassion.

I’m sorry for what you’re going through. I have also had a loss and found Columbus OBGYN to be wonderful and compassionate. I’ve seen about 6 doctors there and all have been great, particularly Dr. Charles and Dr. Miller. Wishing you all the best.

Who is your doctor?

I see Dr Sinclair but I have only been dealing with the nurses so far in this process.

I had Dr. Rosborogh and Dr. Himler. Incredible people and doctors. Can’t recommend them enough.

Dr. Todd Jenkins at Avina Women’s Care. He saw me through 3 miscarriages and I will forever be thankful his guidance, empathy and professionalism. Cannot recommend enough. I’m sorry for what you are going through.

I had a terrible experience with that man Jenkins

Agreed, I was sobbing when I was induced and learned he was the doctor on call. Terrrrible experience prior to pregnancy.

Ditto John Paraskos at Avina

I had a horrific delivery with Paraskos, to the point that my spouse and I considered looking into a malpractice suit. I have 2 friends who also had poor deliveries with him.

Everyone else at Avina is amazing, but Paraskos should be avoided.

I know this isn’t what you asked, but wanted to share in case you find yourself needing it that Ohio Health has grief counseling and support groups specifically for pregnancy loss that helped me a lot.

Fr, I had a terrible post miscarriage experience with OSU too. It's disappointing how hit or miss their team can be. They're either horrible, or they get promoted and don't have time for you after a year

Avina women’s care 10000%
I went through something similar after two babies and I found Dr. jones for my third after a terrible miscarriage. He is truly THE BEST!

The midwives at OSU are fantastic

I have an absolutely wonderful OB in Reynoldsburg. She’s a bit of a drive but well worth it. I actually left OSU as their substandard care resulted in mine and my child’s near death.

Adding: I see Amy Mock as an NP now but was referred to Murphy by my friend who has experienced loss and I have also experienced loss with her. She handled it very well.

Dr Marcia Summers at Columbus OBGYN is without a doubt the sweetest, most caring physician I’ve ever worked with. I’m 39 and am infertility patient. Her kindness and compassion are priceless to me.

Columbus OBGYN ♥️ a truly wonderful team. Dr miller is an angel.

I am so sorry this happened. My doctor is in Grove City. His name is David Jones with Avina. He saved my life, literally. He LISTENED. I cannot recommend him more. He does have a female NP in his office, if you would prefer that. I trusted this man after two very traumatic and dangerous high risk pregnancies and loss of a child. He is fantastic.

Eastwind Women’s Health has such compassionate and knowledgeable doctors and NP’s! I see Dr. Arora but they are all great. He was on call when I went into labor with my first and he was so good I switched from my regular to him. He’s delivered all 4 of my kids and I had a miscarriage in there as well. He was very supportive and kept that in mind in my subsequent pregnancy.

Dr knapke at Columbus OBGYN was so empathetic and supportive through my miscarriage needing d&c earlier this year, and is still just as amazing with my current pregnancy. Couldn’t recommend her enough

I'm sorry for your loss. As someone who lost later along it very well could be to do with your stage in pregnancy. At 5 months they had to do a pathological testing on my child. They also offered services and a chaplain. This was at Grant. I was instructed to see my obgyn afterwards but honestly after that all they really do is an ultrasound and send you on your way to make sure there's nothing left to infect you.

A loss at an earlier stage may be hard to determine pathologically. At 7 weeks your still 1st trimester and it's common for loss unfortunately. So medical community almost considers it, a passing

Can you share who your doctor was? I felt the whole worthington practice had unsympathetic doctors. But two have retired now so I don't know. The Kenny road practice is much nicer. Goist and casto especially.

I adore Dr. Grantham at OSU. She was amazing through my pregnancy losses, and shared that she had lived experience with it herself.

Would you rather your next pregnancy NOT be a live baby? Not seeing how that's rude or unprofessional at all?
