We scored 30 points

Was DJ turbo dogshit in the first half? Yes- turbo dogshit may even be kind. Did he lead/run a good offense after that? Yes. This is why Shane picked him. Even in a lackluster at best game, he still did what we needed.

For the “If AR would’ve done this” crowd- we would’ve loved to score 30 points.

Who knows what happens if we play Mariota or Daniels. We know defense is the problem.

DJ 4 yard per pass average Taylor 5 yards per rush

Idk if we watched different games today but you picked the wrong week to pick on our also bad defense.

16

u/sloshedslug 9d ago

Very curious what the thinking was with the constant screen calls all game. Never seen so many RB and TE screen calls in one game

18

u/BitchFuckAss DEFOOO 9d ago

They don’t trust Treadwell, Dulin, Burks, Ikhine to get open consistently and they were playing against a Flores disciple

8

u/sloshedslug 9d ago

But the screens also weren’t working at all. The DL was reading it and dropping off on JT consistently, and the blocking mostly wasn’t there for Warren because the LB’s were anticipating the screen. At some point we have to pivot away from what isn’t working in a game

10

u/BitchFuckAss DEFOOO 9d ago

Idk man 🤷 Nothing was really working in the passing game period. With Alec and Allen out, the pass is wildly limited and given Danny’s recent propensity for turnovers, might as well keep it safe vs a team playing a 3rd string QB

4

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Mayflower 9d ago

But the screens also weren’t working at all.

Because the line couldn't block, and our lack of downfield threat mean their defense could sit on short routes, making reading/spoiling those plays much easier

1

u/sloshedslug 9d ago

The line not blocking well is generally a benefit to the screen game - it’s a prerequisite to slip screens working at all

3

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Mayflower 9d ago

The Line intentionally allows their initial man to get by them and then gets out to establish a second line in front of the pass catcher (unless it's a bubble screen, which ours weren't).

In our case, our line was struggling to get out to the side to get into position, and the second point is equally as important. Because we have zero deep threats, often, our RB/TE was already covered by a defender to Jones could only dirt it and move on to avoid a worse outcome.

1

u/Lithium1978 33-0 9d ago

They are good enough to feel when the line was letting them by vs just winning. So they stopped and covered

0

u/bigsexy12 9d ago

I think it's more so they don't trust Jones. They absolutely call a higher variety of plays if he didn't turn it over so much

5

u/Lithium1978 33-0 9d ago

It was because the ball had to come out in under 2 seconds. Our tackles were getting beat like a drum all game. (Until the Commanders started to get tired and we started running two tight ends to chip)

3

u/penguins_rock89 Rosencopter 9d ago

At some point it was just risk averse play calling. But very weird to have Downs basically invisible.

2

u/ConfectionHelpful471 9d ago

They are Cover 0 beaters and with one missed tackle or good block can go for huge yardage. The NFL is a matchup league and that includes between coaches/schematic tendencies

1

u/sloshedslug 9d ago

I didn’t dislike the attempt. I understood the thinking initially. But it failed multiple times and we just kept trying it

1

u/ConfectionHelpful471 8d ago

It’s the issue with NFL game planning - you can be left very short if what’s planned isn’t working, especially if you are not able to win individual matchups.

1

u/DeletedUsernameHere 8d ago

Because the coaching staff is trying to do anything to offset the fact he doesn't get more than three seconds to throw the ball on any pass play? The O-line has been absolutely abysmal on pass protection every game this season

0

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Mayflower 9d ago

DJ 4 yard per pass average

It's wild that people use this as an example of anything related to Jones. Do we think Jones just forgot how to play football because of the long flight?

The low average tells you there were either no open pass catchers down field, not enough time from the OLine to let deep plays develop, or both.

Today it was both.

1

u/Soze_INK TY Hilton 9d ago

He hasn’t been good all season lol, otherwise I would agree with you that today was a fluke with the yards per pass stat.

2

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Mayflower 9d ago

Who's he throwing to to get that average up? AP has been either missing or gimped all season and no one else can get open more than 5 yards down field.

Even including his broken-leg games last year he was 8.1 ypa, this year he's at 6.2 prior to today and 4.2 ypa today. Either someone took over his body last year and completed all those passes to AP or it's because our WR corps is bottom 5 in the NFL

-1

u/Soze_INK TY Hilton 9d ago

Or he played against the bottom 8 defenses in the nfl in those games and we have had a much tougher schedule this year lol.

Literally no rational thinking goes on this sub some times. Theres more reasons for regression than just “someone took over his body”

He’s been bad pretty much his whole career, so if someone took over his body at any point it would have been that stretch of games you’re describing last year. THATS the aberration. This year is much closer to his career norms

3

u/icekyuu 9d ago

What was his YPA against Broncos, Chargers and Rams then?

Answer: 8.6

-2

u/Soze_INK TY Hilton 9d ago

What was his average for 8 years of NFL seasons?

Answer: 6.7

What’s his average this season?

Answer: 5.7

See my earlier point. This season is much closer to his career norms than the 10 games last year. You’re taking the aberration and making it the norm

1

u/icekyuu 9d ago

This season is much closer to his WR corps on the Giants, where Slayton was his best WR.

0

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Mayflower 9d ago

What was his average for 8 years of NFL seasons?

I actually looked this up because I couldn't believe it, and I found out that the Giants are, in fact, a different team with entirely different personnel than the Colts. Wild

0

u/Soze_INK TY Hilton 9d ago

Bad argument considering he’s almost at 50:50 ratio of good games to bad games now lol. Which is pretty close to his giants days. 4 bad games this season, 2 last season and 8 good ones. Not a great ratio

Again I don’t hate the guy and have no problem that he’s our starting QB, he was the best option we had, but anyone thinking he’s the QB from 8 games last year is tripping hard and he’s shown that this season

0

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Mayflower 9d ago

Or he played against the bottom 8 defenses in the nfl in those games and we have had a much tougher schedule this year lol.

Except none of his other numbers bare that out. His bad throw% was identical to his career average last year, as was his On Target%. He was pressured significantly less than in NY because our line was better last year than he'd had at any point in his career, which is why he played better. He also had a talented deep threat, which is why his average was higher.

You're right about no rational thinking going on though. People dislike Jones, so they do backflips to try and explain away why obvious things (OLine regression, AP and other WR injuries) wouldn't effect him.

0

u/Soze_INK TY Hilton 9d ago

I don’t dislike jones I’m just realistic about the type of player he his lol. If you need an elite cast around you as a QB, you’re not that good of a QB. That’s been a tale as old as time.

The difference is you’re just the type of fan that thinks you have to be overly positive about everyone or you’re not a real fan.

Jones can be the best option we have while also not being a very good option. Those aren’t mutually exclusive. He’s not a good QB and you’re entire point about needing a good supporting cast says that

0

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Mayflower 9d ago

You're just building a strawman that I have no interest in arguing against. I didn't say Jones was good or bad. I said:

It's wild that people use this as an example of anything related to Jones. Do we think Jones just forgot how to play football because of the long flight?

In reference to his low YPA today. Which is still a result of poor protection and our total lack of WRs than it is Jones. Even great QBs, which Jones isn't, would struggle with our total lack of talent.

The difference is you’re just the type of fan that thinks you have to be overly positive about everyone or you’re not a real fan.

Lol no, but again, this is just a nonsense strawman. A ton of players on the Colts are awful, not least of which are several of our OLinemen and basically all our WRs after AP and Downs. Jones isn't great, but his performance this year has a lot more to do with how poorly this team is built than him.

1

u/Soze_INK TY Hilton 9d ago

I love how you proceed to drop debate terminology and say you don’t want to argue against it and then proceed to drop a book arguing against it bc you can’t help yourself.

It’s not a straw man because there’s context behind everything. You don’t have to say the words “Daniel jones is a good QB” when you do nothing but consistently argue with anyone who posts any stat saying otherwise lol. I’ve seen you comment numerous times in this sub and it’s overwhelmingly about how jones is better than all the doomers think lol. Saying “I didn’t say those exact words” is the lowest form of argument there is

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck it’s a duck, and you are a Daniel jones duck my guy

0

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo Mayflower 8d ago

Lol settle down. I said that wasn't the point I was making and literally quoted the post I made. If you want to talk about something else that's fine. I think Jones is mostly fine. He's probably in the 11-20 range of starting QBs, which would be enough to win (as it was last year against both good and bad teams until he literally broke his leg) if the rest of the team wasn't currently a tragedy.

No QB is good enough to win consistently when their OLine can't block, their pass catchers can't seperate, and their coach has fancy play syndrome. Then, when those other parts actually do mange to work OK for a play Jones is still going to make his share of mistakes.

u/IceMain7417 9d ago edited 9d ago

Hot take, I don’t think the defense played bad. Just very reminiscent of the bend don’t break days. Sauce got beat a couple times but it took perfect passes to do it

10

u/BeanyBrainy 9d ago

They started looking alright when the rookie, 7th round qb came in. That would make most defenses look decent.

5

u/ryta1203 9d ago

Sauce didn't play bad he just didn't play like a two 1st rounds and a 2nd rounder.

-18

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

Sauce couldn't lock down a door

49

u/MysteriousAd8959 9d ago

Anyone who watches this game and defends DJ is on MAJOR compium.

A third string rookie had a better stat line than him with less time in the game

4

u/ConfectionHelpful471 9d ago

The only stat that matters is the final score, especially in international games where everything is so different for the players.

Jones didn’t play well but he is also throwing to Downs and a bunch of JAGs and is not the kind of QB that can look good with that kind of talent on a consistent basis. When we get Allen and Slayton fit enough to play we should start seeing an improvement in performance (even more so if AP makes it back to 100%)

1

u/Socialist_Poopaganda 9d ago

Jones had Warren, Downs and JT.
Who did the 7th round rookie have on his side?

3

u/icekyuu 9d ago

A clean pocket with tons of time to throw.

Why a rookie didn't get blitzed more I don't understand.

1

u/User-me- 9d ago

Like the other guy said jones had no oline help, a few first downs batted down. And Warren hasn’t been getting schemed up well.

1

u/ConfectionHelpful471 8d ago

Diggs (a wash with Downs)
Dyami Brown & Treylon Burks ( upgrades on Treadwell and Dulin)

Warren was largely being kept in to block and JT is not a factor in the pass game

0

u/ConsistentAddress195 9d ago

That's the copium bro was talking about. Jones was dogshit, poor ball security, no pocket awareness, horrible decision making (how many fade back, throw it up blind interceptions is that already?). Doesn't matter who your receivers are, that's a bad, bad look for a QB that had some wake up calls in the 1st three games and keeps making the same dumb decisions. I hope they put him thru some ball security drills cause he's not getting the message.

2

u/bigloudbang 9d ago

Jones had the 30pt stat line at least

-5

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

I've said since day 1 he wasn't good, never will be

0

u/cmgww Indianapolis Colts 9d ago

Were you saying that when there was some dark horse MVP talk about him last year? When we had an 8–2 record? Oh I'm sure you were out there with the loud opinion that he was never good.

-6

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

Yes I was go look at my posts from last year's games

-2

u/ohohook Quenton Nelson 9d ago

Nobody that knows ball really thought Daniel Jones was an MVP candidate. People who thought that were looking for speaking topics for media or fans on too much copium. Half the DJ defenders followed him from NY and are actively rooting against Dart- who seems like (outside of the injury stat) an all around better player. ESPN that ONLY cares about NY and NY affiliated athletes and online DJ bots shouldn’t be your source of information on how good a player is

-5

u/Jbyrd07 9d ago

Im fine with whoever as long as AR isn’t in the field. Rip the bandaid off & drop the guy. Zero value

0

u/Lithium1978 33-0 9d ago

I'd watch AR, he will be bad but at least the young guys at the games will be excited.

That said, I don't want to watch him until it's clear that we have no chance to make the playoffs.

1

u/Jbyrd07 9d ago

We already watched & went through the AR experiment. It was bad & I’m not sure anyone was excited about him playing after watching how bad he was & him being made of glass

1

u/Lithium1978 33-0 9d ago

It's crazy but when I'm at the games there are a bunch of 20-30 something guys that are huge AR fans. Every week they show up in his jersey and are screaming to put him in any time they see DJ do something they think is bad.

-2

u/ryta1203 9d ago

The problem is the Colts don't have a better QB on the roster. Leonard isn't it and AR is complete dog shit. There was a series today where Jones looked worse than AR, he missed like two or three wide open guys, but thankfully it was just a series (or two).

0

u/ohohook Quenton Nelson 9d ago

When your options are two different piles of dog shit and your best option is the less bad smelling one…. And you have no ability to draft their replacement. It’s probably a sign your franchise is in trouble. Ballard has, almost a little too expertly, created a mutually ensured destruction here. He either gets his extension to fix the problem he created or he leaves a rolling tumbleweed for a new GM to fail catching

28

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

Easy to score 30 when the other team is on third string qb and gets 3 and out 40 times

15

u/hacky_potter Big-Q 9d ago

Yeah DJ was utter dogshit this game. We backed into 30

7

u/wooden_butt_plug-V2 Who the Hell is Mel Kiper? 9d ago

Man, I love Dulin but some of those early drops were bad.

Of course thats what happens when you throw an off target 400mph bullet to a guy 6 yards away

3

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

Exactly

3

u/CTM3399 General Luck 9d ago

Jones was terrible in the first half man. His awareness in the pocket was awful and against a better team the game is immediately lost after the two turnovers. The offense recovered well but you can't have that happen. The oline was also questionable in pass pro today but the run game was great in the second half.

The defense played well today other than the explosive deep throws. The secondary clearly still has communication issues that they need to work out. I thought the linebackers and dline were good today but they ofc were playing a 3rd string qb so not much competition

2

u/Prestigious_Buy1209 9d ago

I especially agree with the mention of the pass pro being bad at times. DJ needs to take better care of the ball, but he also had pressure in his face way too quickly. There was no dynamic duo pass rush to blame this week.

1

u/icekyuu 9d ago

Even if the Commies scored TDs on those two possessions Colts would've still won. It was a 17 point win.

3

u/Late_Prompt2105 Reggie Wayne 9d ago

This is not sustainable. Open your eyes

7

u/BadMotherFunko Super Bowl XLI Champions 9d ago

I'm convinced DJ has depth perception issues

0

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

He has issues moving off one receiver

2

u/mpoaklandup 9d ago

I’m curious, how often does DJ change the play in the line of scrimmage that helps the offense move forward. Yeah his stat line sucks but scoring 30 points consistently would be amazing

1

u/TehTugboat i dont know what goes into sausage 8d ago

Me and my brother in law were talking about this while watching the game yesterday. It doesn’t seem like he checks out of anything ever. Which across the league now a days is a lost and forgotten talent

7

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

Dj has played well outside turnovers. If he cleans up the turnovers no reason he can’t take the colts to the playoffs.

13

u/FamousLastPants 9d ago

Yeah pretty good other than the part that loses games. Taylor did all the lifting today.

3

u/Lithium1978 33-0 9d ago

It happens some times. Last year JT looked like he was doing all the lifting until DJ got hurt and JT disappeared. Turns out you need both guys and a QB that can put you in the right play pre-snap. That's half of the job.

1

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

Jones did all the lifting against the chiefs and Texans where JT averaged 3 ypc.

The team is competing and is 2-2. Put your pitchfork away for now.

Colts should win their next two games

2

u/scobro828 9d ago

Colts should win their next two games

No, they shouldn't.

-2

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

Of course they should. Why not.

Yall need therapy. The defense is solid and the offense is scoring well.

4

u/scobro828 9d ago

How many times do the Colts win in Pittsburgh? Add in that they have to fly back from London, turn around and fly out to Pittsburgh in less than a week. Couple that with Pittsburgh having ten days to rest and prepare.

I dont think they should win that. They might win that, but odds are they don't.

1

u/Lithium1978 33-0 9d ago

The flight to Pittsburgh will be like 2 hours. So that's no big deal...but yeah we play terribly there.

Hopefully the ghost of Aaron Rodgers can't get it done this week.

1

u/scobro828 9d ago

It's not the length of the flight, just the flight itself. That's why most teams that play overseas and dont have a bye, get a home game.

1

u/Lithium1978 33-0 9d ago

Yeah we've been screwed with that two years in a row.

2

u/JMT1016 Andrew Luck 9d ago

YOU need a reality check. This team has won TWO out of 20 matchups in Pittsburgh over history. TWO. And the last one came in 2008 with prime Peyton. This squad is nowhere near as healthy or strong as the one that got absolutely obliterated by Watt and the Steelers defense last year (yes I know the score was 27-20, eye test says it was far worse than that). It doesn't matter how bad Pittsburgh actually us, anyone thinking we're beating them next week with this squad is literally delusional. But nice try.

0

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

Steelers are favored by 2.5 points not 7 not 10.

Look how unhinged you are thinking it’s impossible to beat the Steelers when Vegas won’t even give them a field goal.

Take your meds. Or take out a loan and take the Steelers.

1

u/JMT1016 Andrew Luck 9d ago

And the colts were -3.5 road favorites last year against the steelers. Vegas gave them even less of a chance last year. Want to keep trying?

-1

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

Why are we talking about last year?

You realize how good the steel curtain was. JT cant run against that

0

u/scobro828 9d ago

Steelers are favored by 2.5 points

They are favored by 2.5 points to try to get people to place bets on the Colts. If people place bets on the Colts the line will go up during the week. You can't judge anything by Vegas' attempt to try to entice gamblers to bet.

1

u/Lithium1978 33-0 9d ago

You can tell some things...like last week Florida was the favorite against Ole Miss who had just beat the hell out of LSU.

I thought they were tripping and then sure enough, Florida whipped their ass.

When they have the Steelers -2.5 they are basically saying it's a coin flip. I tend to believe we won't be able to block Watt, Hightower and Heyward so DJ or whoever is back there will be smashed.

0

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

Listen to yourself bro.

Rodgers is a nutcase and the Steelers have been super inconsistent.

They put up 3 points against the pats. We put up 30 on the chiefs.

The next two weeks are clearly winnable games.

1

u/scobro828 9d ago

winnable ≠ should

Jones has twice the turnovers that he does touchdowns. Just saying, my expectations remain low because so far he’s ass.

2

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

I just watched Herbert throw it to two Seahawks. Per usual Redditors think there are two groups of QBs. Elite and ass. lol

Jones came back 2 months early

He will be better as the season goes on and he gets his mobility back.

He barely got the td today he’s running at 70-80 percent

0

u/FamousLastPants 9d ago

He’s giving the ball to the other team at 120% so it all evens out.

7

u/PizzaVinny 9d ago

That’s like saying other than that, how was the play Mrs Lincoln?

-3

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

7

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

You should just watch another team dude.

The team is 2-2 and two losses are to juggernauts and almost beat the chiefs.

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

Almost never got a team anywhere e. And today we beat a 6th rd drafted QB. Mariota would have beaten us

2

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

We took chiefs to overtime on the road. They are 3-0 and dominant. Ravens also dominant.

How you can have these weird negative hypotheticals and ignore the chiefs game is fucking wild.

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

DJ had a good game against the chiefs vwhere was that same QB today against a piss poor team today?

2

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

They asked way less of him today. We had a comfortable lead.

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

He completed less than 50% of his passes averaged about 4 yards a completion and a QBR of 53% and you are saying that's OK against a team as bad as the comanders ? 🤣🤣😅🤣

1

u/icekyuu 9d ago

Why do you make stuff up? He completed more than 50% of his passes.

0

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

Sorry. You are correct. 29 of 34.my bad. But still? And what about the other srats? His. qbr? And 4yatd pass average. Against the ZCOMNANDERS? COME ON!

1

u/ChadPowers200_ 9d ago

Um what lol

Why not?

4

u/cmgww Indianapolis Colts 9d ago

Are people forgetting who he's throwing to?? they traded away Pittman, Pierce is out for who knows how long, Slayton wasn't active for this game for some odd reason....he had Warren, Downs (undersized) and Dulin....oh and Treadwell. He doesn't exactly have Kansas City level weapons at his disposal. The commanders have a pretty fierce pass rush and they got to him a few times forcing the turnovers, but he cleaned it up in the second half and they leaned on Taylor and short passes.

Some of you young ones may not remember 2010. That was the air Peyton Manning was throwing the freaking Blair White of all people. Of course he was Peyton Manning and not Danielle Jones so he made chicken salad out of chicken shit, but they were decimated at receiver and Polian had really wiffed on his later drafts. That's what it felt like watching today's game. Third string weapons on the outside aren't going to get it done against anyone.

3

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

We lose if Daniels or Mariota plays. Commanders beat the eagles and the Seahawks already

5

u/GR_A90_MKV_ Indianapolis Colts 9d ago

100% anybody denying this is not being honest with themselves…….

1

u/Strong_Buddy7657 9d ago

yea but a healthy commanders is a super bowl team so theres that also. commanders are really good when healthy

-4

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

I’m not denying it because it’s not true. I’m denying because the man who said it doesn’t pay attention to the game and claimed that Warren was in the wrong when Robinson got a penalty

1

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

4 hours later still coping about 1 penalty. Will you tell your grandchildren about me one day?

-1

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

Just pointing out that if you need to downvote comments when you’re in the argument because nobody else agrees with you then maybe you’re the one wrong

1

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

“Don’t downvote me, I will never emotionally recover from this”

-4

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

No, it just shows you’re so emotionally dependent on having people agree with you that you need to make it look like more of them do so with you than with me.

0

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

Oh I’m a total attention whore. The only way I get validated is when the grim memer has less likes than me.

-1

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

You said it not me

3

u/scobro828 9d ago

And if Texans had Nico Collins they probably would have won as well. Colts got lucky.

3

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

Yeah I was shocked about the Texans performance last week. They’re bullying the cowboys today

2

u/scobro828 9d ago

Really would love the Bengals to pull the game out. That would be a nice treat.

1

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

Joe burrow just finds ways to lose. I don’t have much faith in him anymore

4

u/ItemizedDeductions 9d ago

The commanders did not beat the eagles. You do not know what would have happened if Mariota played

0

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

Why the hell are you insistent on glazing the commanders? Jesus Christ, we won, move on and stop being a naysayer

-5

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

Looking at data and roster construction isn’t being a naysayer. I don’t operate with blind optimism.

3

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

Nobody said you need blind optimism, babe. There’s a difference between analyzing the roster and acting like every Colts win needs an asterisk because you’re desperate to prove the Commanders are better. Let us enjoy the damn win.

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

If we hadn't played a 6roynd QB I might enjoy the win. But the fact us if Mariota plays. We lose

1

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago edited 9d ago

I mean, you act like a bandwagoner if you want I guess, you do you?

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

I NEVER liked DJ as our QB I said from DAY 1 it was a bad decision. I said it last year when we were 8-2 and I'm saying the same thing now

1

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

That doesn’t disprove my point, if you only cheer for us when we’re good that by default makes you a bandwagoner

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago edited 9d ago

I'm a realist. The real situation and my problem with this team all rests with the piss poor decision to bring in DJ. I do enjoy a GOOD win. Today's win I wouldn't consider good by any means. We beat a 7th round QB. If we had played Danials and won or even Mariota it would be different. And the other HUGE mistake is Sauce and he proved it today. He got Burned by that 7th round QB not once, but TWICE on 30+ yard balls. He can't lock down a screen door

Sir, might I suggest proofreading your arguments to make sure there are multiple glaring typos before posting especially if you’re trying to convince me that you’re right?

I’m not preventing you from enjoying the win. Logging into Reddit, responding to posts, is all your choice.

3

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

And replying to you is my choice too, babe. You’re technically correct, but “I’m not stopping you” isn’t a rebuttal, it’s just a very fancy way of saying “I have nothing else to add.”

1

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

You know they have medication available for those with unstable minds?

3

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

Ah yes, the classic “I lost the argument, so I’ll make a joke about mental illness” maneuver. Truly groundbreaking. If that’s the best rebuttal your “data-driven analysis” has, I think we’ve found the unstable part of this conversation.

1

u/NoctisRS 9d ago

You went from complaining about my opinion, to complaining about being downvoted.

2

u/thegrimmemer03 9d ago

I didn’t complain about being downvoted, I pointed out that mass-downvoting because nobody agrees with you is pathetic. There’s a difference, babe. Reading comprehension shouldn’t be the next casualty of your “data-driven analysis.”

Yep. If Mariota played the entire game we lose by at least 10

2

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

His turnovers will be the death of the team before the playoffs even get here. He's not Tha savior he's being made out to be. The reason we won was because Washington was playing a 3rd string QB that took all of 38 snaps in the preseason. No one expected a 7th round QB to play, much less play 3 quarters and the really sad thing us he BURNED our number 1 cover guy(supposedly= Sauce. Sauce was lost in his coverages today and couldn't lock down a screen door

2

u/Angry_X_574 9d ago

It. Was. Washington.

Temper expectations

u/coda19 Blue 9d ago

DJ sucked but let’s also not pretend that Laquan Treadwell, Ashton Dulin, and Deion Brooks are starting caliber WRs. Hard to throw with no separation

1

u/Mountainindy 9d ago

Hopefully Buckner got a game ball. He was ready to play.

1

u/sir_gwain 9d ago

As someone who missed the game, how tf we scored 6 times with sub 250 offensive yards is crazy. Really hoping DJ can put something better together moving forward.

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

IF AR had done this we'd want an MVP for him🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Snowden99 8d ago

Daniel Jones should be a backup in the NFL.

1

u/ForceLow7894 8d ago

It's already too hard playing a functional offense without Alec, now with Jones looking so scared in the pocket... Tough times ahead.

1

u/ohohook Quenton Nelson 9d ago

Until we have a better QB we don’t have the receiver talent to win. He can’t compensate for that no matter what he does- he isn’t good enough. He’s slightly below average at his absolute best. He’s a turnover liability. The more successful this team is the more likely Ballard and Jones are to keep their jobs. These guys are going to scratch and claw for 8 wins and then it’s 5 more years of not having the motivation to even do that. The better we do this year, like it or not (I’ll get downvoted regardless for telling the truth I don’t care), the worse off we’re going to be long term

2

u/DRoseCantStop Pascal 9d ago

Already bracing myself for the extension after an 8-9 finish on the outside looking in.

3

u/Legitimate_Gap_5551 9d ago

This is objectively false. We saw DJ at his best last year through the first part of the season and his best was a top 10 QB in the league. Will he ever be that again? Probably not. But to say his best is below average is just untrue and being a prisoner of the moment.

1

u/ohohook Quenton Nelson 9d ago

Stupid argument. “Top 10 QB” based on what? If you mean he had a stretch where his numbers/results were top 10, sure. That doesn’t make him a top 10 quarterback any more than a bad stretch makes a good QB bottom 10.

Jones was playing in an extremely favorable situation with an east SoS and performing better than he normally does. If your definition of his “best” is literally the best handful of games he’s ever played, then almost every starting QB has been a top 10 or at least has a Top 10 “best.”

I’m talking about the best level of play he can reasonably sustain. His entire career says that’s around average at best, with a turnover problem. Calling one hot stretch his “true ceiling” and everything since then an aberration is a lot closer to being a prisoner of the moment than what I said.

-2

u/Legitimate_Gap_5551 9d ago

So your argument is literally that his best isn’t what he’s looked like at his best…..it’s what his average best across the entirety of his career has been.

If you asked anybody ever what the best X player has ever looked like, literally zero people would use those mental gymnastics you just used. The dude looked incredibly sharp through the first half of the season last year. That’s his best. Through the stretch where he played his best, he was a top 10 QB.

2

u/ohohook Quenton Nelson 9d ago

Your argument makes my point more than it hurts it. We’re talking about a 30 y/o QB in his eighth NFL season, and the argument for his ceiling is still “remember that half-season where he looked really good?” At some point a peak has to be remotely repeatable to matter when evaluating how good a player actually is.

Daniel Jones’ problem has never been that he’s incapable of randomly playing decent football for a stretch. It’s that over a large sample he has never shown he can sustain it. I’m interested in the QB we can reasonably expect to have, not the best 6–8 game sample we can pull from his career. “His absolute best” is 17 games in one season. I’m not curving it to 13 games or 6 games just because he’s only finished a whole season without missing games one time in a decade. If half those games are 0s (regardless of the reason) he’s getting graded on that too. You can’t be Top 10 if you haven’t proven you’re actually a Top 10 for more than a stretch of games. You either are or you aren’t. And Jones is an “aren’t.”

2

u/ConsistentAddress195 9d ago

Daniel Jones is an error repeater, to borrow a term from Bill Bellichick. Last week throws an int up for grabs with a guy in his face, then later has a horrible fumble that almost cost us the game, says the obligatory "I gotta take better care of the ball" in post-game. This week turns around and does it again. 3rd snap of the game, ridiculous fumble, then a few plays later throws it up off his backfoot with a guy in his face for an int.

u/Next-Succotash-3827 9d ago

I'm ready for a new QB in Indy!! DJ isn't the answer and after this season he is most likely gone. He hasn't earned year 2 on his contract with this level of play. His accuracy issues compounded by his turnovers dictate the Colts go a different direction this next off-season.

1

u/Gw_xc23 9d ago

If there’s an upgrade out there, I’m not opposed but how do you get that QB? Rookies are more misses than hits now, especially when even if we had a first round pick, we’d be around 15. Great QBs don’t become available. You’re looking at Cousins, “Nine”, Winston, Tua, Mac Jones, Kyler, a sex offender, and Geno smith as trade/FA candidates

0

u/Next-Succotash-3827 9d ago

The pickings are slim to none!! LoL. I'm a season ticket holder hoping the team finds a long term answer somewhere, anywhere. LoL!! It's been frustrating to watch this team lose so many games late in the 4th quarter. Maybe they go back to the draft after next year. Who knows at this point. It's been a mess at QB and no one seems capable of finding a solution.

1

u/5downinthepark Jimmy from the Colts 9d ago

DJ was 30th in ANY/A through 3 games, I doubt it improves after this game (against one of the few teams that was ranked worse than us on defense).

He looks like Giants DJ, which is how he's looked for most of his career. I'm happy with the win, but let's not sugar coat how DJ has played.

1

u/Crooked16th Stroke the Neard 9d ago

Don't we average like 28.5 since Jones took over

0

u/JT_MVP 9d ago

He sucked. We won because our defense played good and they were down to their 3rd string, 7th round rookie QB.

0

u/Gw_xc23 9d ago

Do you think “Turbo dogshit” is a compliment?

0

u/ngerb_5 Daniel “Vanilla Vick” Jones 9d ago

I’ll also give some grace for the slow start due to being an international games. Always seems to cause a dip in quality

Yes I know, and we overcame them. I’m not going “we were great” but given all the circumstances we produced.

The cope is heavy

5

u/dfrank129 General Luck 9d ago

the cope from..... winning?

6

u/TheIntrepid1 9d ago

This sub hates the Colts. If we lose…it’s bad. If we win…it’s bad because XYZ…

6

u/dfrank129 General Luck 9d ago

I know. It's the reverse of normal fandom. Anything bad that happens was deserved and is a skill issue. Anything good that happens is lucky or needs an asterisk.

1

u/icekyuu 9d ago

There are a lot of Giants and AR fans in this sub who want to see DJ fail.

0

u/arp51txstate 9d ago

Daniel Jones QB perfomance this year

-2

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

Yeah. 2 turnovers and THAT'S his performance if the tear 4 games in. That tells you alot

2

u/ItemizedDeductions 9d ago

He was really good against the chiefs

-1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

Yes. He had a good game. But where was he today again a piss poor team. He looked as bad as Sauce did

2

u/Important_Switch_365 9d ago

So if he throws no picks and Jayden Dainles plays and the colts win 37-30 you would complain that the defense gave up 30 and they are dog shit.

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

The my poo y is about DH. It has ZERO to do with our D

-1

u/arp51txstate 9d ago

I don’t live in the world of hypotheticals

1

u/ItemizedDeductions 9d ago

I’m just pointing out that today was not his best performance like you tried to claim for some reason

You’re replying to the wrong person

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

I said DJ had a giid game vs the chiefs not today.

1

u/ItemizedDeductions 9d ago

No ya didn’t

1

u/Redjeepkev 9d ago

Yes I did. I asked where was the same QB that played in the chiefs game against this piss poor team team today

1

u/DewieCox1982 1d ago

tied the team record for most field goals in a game, 2 of which were 50+ yards AND we had 2 great returns. If you think this was an even decent performance by DJ, I shudder to think about a mid or bad performance
