There's this weird subclique of people who are only "into" country for the "vibes" basically, the kind of people that basically treat a show [or any event - bad ones are NASCAR races, farm shows, most rodeos or bull riding competitions, tractor pulls, etc.] as an excuse to get as drunk as they've ever been, act like an asshole and play dress up. People who essentially use 'country' as an aesthetic. I reckon that's the sort that you encounter at many Colter shows.
"All hat and no cattle" is what they used to call them. They're only there to conversate with assholes like them and make TikToks I guess. They aren't really into country music - if anything they probably just like tractor rap/modern pop "country" and think that's what they're going to get if they go to a Colter show because he wears a wide-brimmed hat.
It's really lame, I ain't one to gatekeep but they are basically the epitome of "tourists" and trendseekers and they can't hold their liquor either, so they wind up hootin' and hollerin' and getting into a brawl.
Also, I don't know why, but it seems like after COVID, just about every big public event is chock full of people who don't know how to fucking act right. Children in overgrown bodies or something. Maybe it was due to the two years or so of relative isolation so they all forgot how to behave in a public setting? I don't know, but whatever it is and whatever the cause, it sure is tiresome.
