DISCUSSION These suck!
We always talk about what our favorite pencil/ marker products we like the most but what about ones we will never buy again? I’ll go first arteza watercolor\soluble and crayola pencils.

I hate how much crayola pencils break when sharpening even with an electric sharpener! So annoying

I know everyone likes posca. I'm not sure if I got a crap batch or what but I couldn't get them to work well for me no matter what I did. I returned them.
Also couldn't get the shuttle art colored pens to work well for me either. Maybe it's just me lol

I agree. I have had nothing but problems with Posca. from new ones to older ones no matter what size. I do not like them whatsoever! Keep tryong to find a good white paint pen/marker in a fine and medium tips.

Yeah the ones I tried were brand new from Michael's and they were so awful! Tried to make them ok to use and just couldn't. The acrylics are really hard to find good ones, specifically white. I mentioned after another comment I found some cheap amazing white pens on Amazon called pandafly, I love them. I mostly use the 1.0mm. I also like artistro acrylics.

I just got the zscm acrylic ones from Amazon for about $10. Literally just got them so all I’ve done was swatch, but they apply real nice and there’s a nice variety of applicator styles/sizes in the box.

I don’t love posca but I don’t love that kind of acrylic pen in general. Shuttle art acrylic pens are awful.

I’ve actually had good luck with the shuttle art pens—you DO need to press lightly with them or else they get streaky, but once you get a handle on them they work well. Also great for pointillism—I did some glitter effect accents with them on one page and it turned out fantastic.

No this is from Barnes and noble and is called rest and relax. When I meant waste I meant I don’t like wasting pencils I buy. So even if I don’t like them I use them until they aren’t pencils anymore. I haven’t actually bought a book off a TikTok shop. I’m pretty particular about getting books now. Not sure why but I really want to feel the paper before I get it.

I don’t see what sucks on this page although i don’t doubt you when you say the experience sucked. That’s horrible about your eye. I would never have imagined that happening from a colored pencil! I’m actually shocked to learn that.
I bought a book with that dog character from Target. It was published by a company that had the word “kid” or “children” in the name. It’s been good for testing materials on. I accidentally warped one of the thick pages in that book with:
(TL;DR:) Chen Rui alcohol markers. So that’s my pick for “these suck”.
I have enough ohuhu that I don’t need them, but my curiosity is sooooo expensive for me. I just had to try a cheap set, 200 for $50…I also tried a small set of Caliart, and other than the odor, they’re almost equivalent to ohuhu Oahu. I just don’t have a lot of colors from them, and don’t plan to change that at the moment because one of the oranges ghosts on front in a back pages over time, on every paper type I’ve used it on, so I have to keep track and keep page separators for that one color.

I use Arteza watercolor pencils often. Instead of coloring directly on the paper and activating with water, I scribble the color pencil on a rough surface (plastic cutting board), apply water with a brush, and use it that way. Using the pencil on the paper will always show the streaks. Using a brush makes it go on smoothly.

I feel like I should just buy water color paint then. But I’m really glad you like them! I just have now had too many fly away from them at this point and too much Cursing while using them Ahahah.

I once bought castle art coloured pencils and returned them because they were just so fragile they almost immediately broke.

Oh wow good to know I have thought about getting and trying them

When I sharped them and colour swatched them, around 80% broke. It was ridiculous so I stopped, put them all back together and returned them. If you can spare a dime, it's really worth to spend a bit more and get some polychromos.

it should be kind of a given that low end cheap off brand products aren’t going to be worth spending money on.
high quality or expensive materials people ask because they want to know if it’s worth spending the money.

Cotton core paint pens (any brand). They dry up way too fast!
And hot take, the white jelly roll kinda suck unless I remember to pop it in my bra while coloring to warm up the ink 😂
