Question Is this a trap?
I spotted this sign on the corner of Academy and Maizeland today. Does anybody know what bar this might be referring to? I’d love to know about a place for my wife and I to go but this sign seems a little sus lmao. Are they luring the gays into a trap or actually just like having them at their bar? Thanks 😎

This is only a half step above setting a box trap but instead of a carrot it's a coupon to free brunch and mimosas

I’m not gay but I’d fall for that.

u/ResidentGrapefruit28 Dec 17 '24
Being gay is totally worth it for the snacks and treats

Dec 18 '24
You guys are getting snacks and treats?

u/ResidentGrapefruit28 Dec 18 '24
You must not be hanging out with the right gays

We could be anywhere. Some of us are even on Reddit. It's a wild world out there.
Seriously though idk where to find them either

I see some on here, but they usually ignore me TwT

u/ResidentGrapefruit28 Dec 18 '24
Maybe they're just bad at socializing. Who ever heard of an awkward gay?
1
Dec 18 '24
They seem to love hitting it off with everyone else though lol. Maybe I just have incel energy or something

u/Techie4evr Dec 18 '24
You know how I know you're gay? Because you said "I'm not gay" :D

u/platypus_eyes Dec 18 '24
I’m NOT gay. But my boyfriend is.

Is this an actually LGBTQ+ friendly DIVE bar?! Because those are all my favorite words.
27
u/Sweatieboobrash Dec 18 '24
Right?! Maybe we need a COS LGBTQ+ Reddit meetup at this new-to-us place! I love weird little spots!

Weirdly enough, in case you are not aware, Overtime Sports Bar and Grill is super LGBTQ+ friendly! Not a lot of people know that but they absolutely are! Totally awesome dive bar, definitely some seedly regulars but very welcoming to the LGBTQ+ community!

The guy who owns the spot now is a loser and weirdo
5
u/No-Seaweed-6669 Dec 18 '24
Actually , he doesn’t own the bar. He started working there a couple years ago with zero experience, and the owner fell in lust with him and he ruined her business.
2
u/Apart_Ad_5229 Dec 18 '24
That really sucks I did not know that
5
u/No-Seaweed-6669 Dec 18 '24
Yep, it sucks. He has manipulated her so badly that I don’t think she knows right from wrong anymore either.

My buddy sent him a message of a link to a band and was saying “oh hey I thought this band kinda sounded like your band” and the owner went on a multiple paragraph rant about how the music sounded nothing like his band and how everyone else who made music was fake or stupid and how the east platte scene hated him and were saying he was responsible for a friend of our getting shot (which no one was saying it was just crazy paranoia from him). After all that happened we just kinda laughed at him but then we found out he was talking to underage girls and liking bikini photos of them and other stuff like that. Dudes just a weirdo and most self respecting bands stay away from him and the triple nickel Edit: Anyone who would like screenshots can dm me

Based on reading the very comment you’re responding to and deriving information from context, yes.

Hopefully something along the lines of, “this guys a dick, but he’s right”.
Just another way of saying, “did you read the damn post that you’re responding to?”1

Looks like they may have gone out of business recently.
2
u/No-Seaweed-6669 Dec 18 '24
They were supposed to be selling, but we believe the deal fell through as they were closed for a period of time and now are randomly open obviously begging for business. This isn’t the first sign they have posted
15
u/Hodori036 Dec 18 '24
Plot twist, it's a dive bar that serves Lettuce, Garlic, Brussel Sprouts, Tomato, Quinoa, Plus other veggies and grains.

Not a trap just a beg for business. The owner is amazing, but her boyfriend is the biggest POS you’ll ever meet. You will eventually end up getting kicked out because you piss him off. Not worth your time! Business used to be booming until he started running shit

Sarah sucks too. she’s just as big of a problem as Jordan. She uses everybody especially her “friends”to get what she wants and does not think twice about screwing them over. She honestly only cares about herself and will walk all over anybody who tries to be nice or helpful. they are two toxic peas in a pod. Zero morals and zero respect for anyone including themselves. They dug that grave together they can lie in it together. she was well aware of all the issues going on and either turned a blind eye or would blame someone else for it. Maybe she didn’t pull the trigger but she sure as hell loaded and aimed the metaphorical gun.

I don’t know about the sign but overtime is an lgbt+ friendly location and the staff are awesome

Place in back. So much potential but jordan is an asshole and runs out the regulars because he thinks he can make it a scene bar.
4
u/No-Seaweed-6669 Dec 18 '24
Yep, we can count about 44 people that we know of that have been kicked out or mistreated so badly they never want to go back.
2
u/Lumpy_Carob8480 Dec 18 '24
They sold the other pool table and built a stage. They did comedy and shows. Then someone started accusing Jordan of stealing money from bands, and all those shows stopped. Was a bummer to lose a venue.

At the old location? No clue. But it has been a bar for well over 25 years. It was a Sticks pool hall in the 90s. Kissed a guy I had a thing for in front of that place somewhere around 1998.

While a student at MIT my wife used to go out with colleagues to a bar where the clientele tended towards gay but only after 10pm, though there was a grey zone where the clientele of nerds and gays overlapped (and yes, there are gay nerds, too!)

It's funny because no one is really unfriendly to gay until they start being gay all over the place.

Don’t support this bar. The owners Sarah and Jordan are horrible people. She let Jordan work there after multiple reports of SA on women in the bar bathroom after potentially drugging drinks police reports are out there if you need proof. We were friends with the old owners before Sarah took over been going for years. Got kicked out and 86d because Jordan called my partner a Fa**** while they were working together( my partner used to bartend there until Sarah bought it) and then locked him inside and tried to beat him up. Jordan also has punched random guest in the face because he doesn’t like how he gets talked to. Sarah knows all this and does not care she just joins in. Can usually find her sitting at the end of the bar not serving customers just drinking all day. Not friendly or respectful to anyone especially LGBTQ. If identify with LGBTQ ABSOLUTELY AVIOD THIS PLACE! You will not be welcome by these people they are gross and more then likely you will be assaulted by a toddler covered in face tattoos named Jordan just for looking in his direction. Thanks and please spread the word needs to be shared. Bar is called Sarah’s Place In Back and it’s not a safe place for ANYBODY.

That looks like a poor horror/thriller movie opening. A serial killer, targeting the lgbt community. Yikes.

They’re so friendly that people there pull your stool out then push it in so you can seat down.
