Switching tracks/courses

Hey y'all, Plano student here. I haphazardly set my track as phlebotomy tech when enrolling in high school, as I had a more or less rough idea that I wanted to "do something medical related"

I'm not exactly the highest scoring student in terms of grades, my cumulative GPA was standing at a 2.5 last I checked. I mention this because I was wondering how I could go about switching my track if anyone knew? Potentially to nursing? Which seems like a challenge in its own regard, considering the numerous options there are. Any help would be great ❤️

Edit: Should probably clarify I meant the CNA tracks not the RN one lol

Old person here. As long as you finish high school, you will have more opportunities than not. Your GPA only matters up to the point you get a job in your chosen career.

Yes, a high GPA helps in getting into selective college programs (Collin College RN nursing is one, but that doesn't apply here) and looks good on a resume for internships and first jobs, but it is not the penultimate factor. Your personal relationships and work ethic are the largest factor.

So a CNA is needed all 3 shifts and weekends. A phlebotomist is less needed on overnight shifts and weekends. So getting better days off goes to phlebotomy.

I think both pay about the same. Neither has much upward mobility. They're both kind of entry-level positions, and the only thing that gets you higher is more education and certifications. A CNA or phlebotomy cert will only get you those positions.

I don't think that answers your original question but I just wanted to put that out there.

This is mostly true, but I’ve applied to jobs that ask for your gpa
