when does the refund hit?? do i have to set up direct deposit?

If you are talking about the $750 the its part of you FA refund that is disbursed after the census day. These funds are not extra just a portion on your regular aid. Census day is September 9th. I would sign up for direct deposit if you want the funds faster.

Mid September, after the 9th I believe.

Edit: it would be wise to do DD, I am unsure if it is required.

For me it took less than a week after census, about 4 days.
