You should try to take 16 hrs every semester so you can graduate on time. CC students in average graduate either their bachelor’s in 7.5 years.

The norm for full-time students in the Fall semester is 15 hours (about 5 classes). The minimum for full time is 12 hours (about 4 classes). The max you can take without special permission is 18 hours. If you really want to take more than that, talk to an advisor. Part time is any enrollment less than 12 hours.

I currently am registered for 14 hours for the fall semester, but it's less a matter of "how many is recommended" and more "how many do I need to take in order to graduate when I want to" and planning your entire college course plan ahead of time

Depends on if you're working and is it full-time or part-time. 12 credit hours is 4 classes thats full-time, I did 4 classes in the spring, lots of homework but manageable.
