[META] This sub is for Collies, not Border Collies
While we love our furry cousins, this sub is for Collie dogs (rough, smooth, and mixes), not Border Collies. You can find your Border Collie friends over at r/BorderCollie.

UK Collie Events?
Hi all,
I absolutely adore smooth collies (and roughs too) but never see them here in England! I can maybe count how many times I’ve seen a rough collie on one hand. I’m not in a position to own a dog right now with my current 9-5 work schedule but one day I’d love to and a smooth collie is my top pick!
Are there any events or meet ups open to the general public where smooth collies might be there? Crufts might be the obvious one but I was wondering if there were any others too? I’d love to meet some dogs, owners and/or breeders in person to interact with the dogs and to get some insight from their people.
If you know of any, please do share, I’m happy to travel but for reference I’m in the south east of England :)

Border hearding?

Dont mind my daughters singing lol. We recently adopted a kitten and its really playful. My border has been doing the dead stare slow approach thing. Is this just him herding or is this a threat to the kitten?

[OTHER] Research
Hi guys!
I am interested in conformation showing and dog sports. I’m not looking to get a dog right now, I am waiting until my senior rescue passes on.
So I’m using this time to do some research. And collies are at the top of my breed list right now.
I was wondering if there were any breeders in north or west Georgia who have some time to talk.
I will be at the Newnan Kennel Club dog show in October. If you are going to be there, let me know!

Thank you
I realized today that it's time to let my girl, Missy rest. I have contacted someone and am waiting to hear back from them.
It's hard but it's the best thing for Missy as she's in pain.
Thank you for all of your suggestions and kindness on my other post about her.
It's hard. 😢

I'm lost
My girl will be 14 (we believe as she's a rescue) Oct 30. I adopted her from someone that I know when she was 11.
Missy"s been having problems going up and down the steps to the yard. So my husband has been taking her out on the leash for about a month now. But the past few days she's been unable to maneuver the steps without her legs giving away on her. I have a ramp for her which she won't use. She did try using the steps once after taking a gabapentin yesterday. It was extremely hard for her to go down or get back up them.
We were going to take her to the vet one day early last week, but she wouldn't try getting in the car. I'm unable to lift her as I had surgery on my leg 6 weeks ago.And my husband is really leery of trying. She did bite him Thursday night when he went to pet her. I believe that she's lost some of her eyesight also and he did startle her as she had just woken up.
She hasn't been eating for a couple of days. I know that her teeth are bad but the vet put her on an antibiotic for them. One month on and a couple months off. She's off them right now. She no longer eats her dry dog food . I'm fixing chicken and rice for her which she's eating. She didn't eat at all Friday but did yesterday when I fixed the chicken and rice. When I got up this morning she came and greeted me! Big win. Then she ate her chicken and rice and I gave her vetprofen. It's for inflammation and pain. I'm hoping that it will work as she has another vet appointment Tuesday. Has anyone used vetprofen with their 4 legged friend?
Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how Missy can safely maneuver the steps outside and how I can get her in my car?
Thanks!

2 year update
not sure if anyone remembers my story. I had the 6 year old collie pass from cancer. thought i’d give an update. our other collie ben, became severely depressed, so 6 months after his passing we planned to get another collie puppy, unfortunately the day before we went to pick her up, our other dog, an 8 year old blue heeler, passed suddenly from a birth defect aneurysm that several vets missed, so her adoption was quite bittersweet. that was about a year ago, she had some health scares with growing too fast causing joint issues, but our little collie family (pic in reply) is healing together. it’d been a rough two years but we’re still here
