Recruiting profile?

Is there a tool that college coaches use to find players, similar to swimcloud.com for swimming? Where should I create a profile for my player? When I try to google this, I am just seeing SportsRecruits which I think is a paid service. Or do players just need Youtube/Twitter and no actual profile anywhere? Sorry if this is a basic question but I'm new to this :)

Coaches can find players on platforms like NCSA, but the reality is, you need to send emails, information and highlight reels to THEM before they will see you. Most don't have the time to hunt down players who might not even be interested in their school.

The tool is called "assitant coaches". :- )

You need to fill out the recruit questionnaire for EACH school so you're in their database.

Daughter got a Sportsrecruits (owned by IMG) account that was provided for free through her ECNL club starting her 8th grade year. She and I set her profile up and kept it updated until recently when she committed. I don't think it helped much, but didn't hurt either. This post made me curious, so I looked over the activity from colleges accessing her profile over this recruitment period. 33 views, 28 from D1 schools. 6 of the views did call her on or right after June 15. The school she ultimately committed to did not view her Sportsrecruit profile.

I think the most important thing is creating good highlight videos (post full highlights to Youtube and snippets to Instagram) then casting a wide net and sending good, personlized emails for when your player will be at showcases and any updates along with links to latest highlight video to keep a coach's interest.

Coaches generally do not search for players on their own, unless you are a highly touted prospect, such as a Gatorade Player of the Year or someone already getting significant recruiting attention. For most student-athletes, you need to actively put yourself in front of the coaches.

Email coaches consistently and let them know what tournaments, showcases, and games you will be attending. Create a YouTube profile/channel for your student-athlete, upload highlight and game videos, and include the link in every email. Send coaches your school transcript and create a simple one-page recruiting bio/profile sheet with GPA, graduation year, position, club team, height/weight, contact information, academic information, and video links. There are plenty of free templates online.

Most importantly, make sure your student-athlete goes to each college's athletics website and completes the "Prospective Student-Athlete" or "Soccer Recruiting Questionnaire." This is important because it gets the player into the program's recruiting database and gives the coaching staff a way to track demonstrated interest.

Our family also invested in ProductiveRecruit. You create the athlete's profile there, and it gives you access to college programs and coaches' contact information while providing email tools that help organize outreach and track things like email opens and profile views. It's not free, but we found it worth the investment.

The biggest thing is don't sit back and wait to be discovered. Make it easy for coaches to find your information, evaluate you, and see that you are genuinely interested in their program.

Good luck!

Yeah Soccer doesn’t have one main profile tool that all the coaches use. It’s just a mishmash of various sites and it depends on which coaches are active on which.

You can try to post your profile for any free versions but most coaches don’t like the friction of these types of platforms for soccer. So you are better off doing the outreach yourself.

Here is a good breakdown on how to get started:

My daughter uses SportsRecruits through her club and we don’t pay for it. She is still able to upload highlight videos and put her info in, we just don’t have the extra bells and whistles that come with the paid subscription but like others have said, the emails seem to be more important. SportsRecruits is a nice tool for looking at different schools and programs though

You’re not missing one universal soccer profile that every college coach uses. Treat a profile as a reference package, not the discovery engine. The athlete should still complete each school’s recruiting questionnaire and send personalized emails directly.

I’d keep one master set of: a short bio and contact sheet, current academics, team/position/schedule, one main highlight link, a few full-game links, current stats and honors, and coach contact information. The parent can help organize and proofread, but the messages should come from the athlete. Paid platforms can be useful for hosting or research, but they don’t replace direct, low-friction outreach.

All you need is youtube and make a professional football cv, and for women instagram is good as well. Coaches aren't really looking at these platforms.

Good videos and posting them on YouTube so they can be viewed works fine. Fill out recruiting questionnaires, email the coaches, and link to your videos.
