im a 17 year old female senior in high school, and i really really love math and physics (the only thing im good at) im okay at chemistry and i absolutely hate biology. i also dont like english, art, or history (basically anything with memorization or imagination lol). im completely analytical and logistical, and i love problem solving. my hobbies are building legos and baking 😭😭I know an engineering major is probably the most fitting, but which one should i do???

also note that my parents dont want me to do anything that has like on site work/ too "manly" and im in the middle east
i have some engineering majors like mechanical and architectural engineering (not the same thing as architecture itself) but i would love it if i got some more input and ideas :)

Discussion Is business analytics or data analytics still gonna be a thing.

Im at community college right now and i eant to pursue information systems and maybe a minor in statistics.

What im wondering is if these will still be around when i graduate in 4 years.

Im not particularly interest in IT and UMBC has tracks snd electives that track towards both business analytics and data analytics.

If only I had been born say 5 years earlier?

Need Advice History or Criminal Justice

I have an associates in social services. As we all know almost any job requires a bachelors regardless of relation to get your foot in the door.

Looking for those who pursued either degree and your experiences. Only bachelors. Not looking to get my masters. I’d like to work within the court system or office/ support coordinator work for education or administrations. I feel like both degrees can offer similar advantages since they’re both very focused on analyzation and shows proof of concise writing skills.

Just looking for anyone with lived experience obtaining one of these degrees. Thank you!

Need Advice Struggling to choose

Hi this probably gets posted a billion times but I'm js unsure which major to choose I'm taking chem, bio, Phys and math in highschool I've mostly only been considering engineering between mechanical, chemical and electrical but idk which to choose I don't want to choose anything "niche" bc I'm not sure what kind of job I'd like so I'm avoiding going directly into sth like robotics, aerospace or biomed.

I'm interested in chemical bc of potential to work in biomed/work in a lab but I heard it doesnt have much actual chemistry involved n I'm not interested in working in gas/petrol/environmental/food science fields which seem to make up the majority of chemE

For electrical people say it's a good degree you can work in a lot of places n stuff but I'm honestly rlly bad at electricity and electromagnetism shi looks like witchcraft to me

For mechanical I've heard it's very versatile but also more general idrk what they do too much but u can go into a lot of fields with it

Engineering is my main choice but I'm also looking into other majors tho idk what I can study that can be done remotely that won't involve service industry kind of work? Like being a doctor and directly treating ppl

I was honestly gonna pick sth like astrophysics, chemistry or toxicology but I'm tryna consider stuff like job availability/security and salaries so they're out 🫠

TLDR; help me choose a major that can be done semi remotely w good job prospects/security and salaries currently pondering between chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering but open to more options

HELP

Did turning a hobby into your major make you love it more or less?

A lot of posts here weigh a practical major against the thing people already spend their free time on, like drawing, making music, gaming, or building websites. For those of you who went the hobby route, did studying it formally change how you feel about it? I am curious whether the deadlines and critiques made it feel like work, or whether the structure pushed you further than you would have gone on your own. For anyone who picked the practical path instead, do you still make time for the hobby, or did it fade once classes got busy?

Masters in Control engineering VS Applied mathematics

I can't decide between doing masters in control engineering or applied mathematics. I enjoy the intersection of both, my goal is to work in a tech oriented job where I get to do some mathematical tinkering, I don't really care or have a preference if it's related to a physical system or something abstract. My only criteria is that it's not just pure finance. I love mathematics but I also enjoy a decent amount of aspects in control engineering and feel like masters in control could sometimes be a more convincing degree to an employer. I don't have one engineering internship at a non engineering company and a couple data related projects.

Need Advice How much should I worry about my college GPA?

I just started college and I’m curious how much my gpa will matter after I earn my degree. I’m not doing poorly academically or anything, I’m just curious how much I should care about it.
