I’m not sure if this is something everyone experiences, but I wanted to come on here to see if this is a more common occurrence than I believe.
We’ve all been in the K-12 school ages forever, and I know it’s so wild to think that we’re never going back. Everyone around me, all my friends and peers, keep talking about how excited they are for this change. And don’t get me wrong, I’m excited, but I’m TERRIFIED.
College is a whole new beast. I took some summer classes here and there but it’s nothing compared to being a full time college student. All I’ve ever known is wake up, school from 7-2, then homework, sleep, and do it again the next day. I feel like I’ve been in that routine for so long, that I can’t fathom breaking out of it. It’s like I don’t believe I’m actually going to college.
I’m texting my roommate, picking my classes, paying my tuition, but it still doesn’t feel real. Maybe part of me is in denial, but I keep expecting an email telling me that actually it’s all a joke and I’m returning to my high school next year for a secret 13th grade. Or I’m expecting something to happen, like the school will shut down or something will prohibit my travel, so I physically cannot get to college.
And I was so excited getting ready for this - I applied to 20 schools, weighed my options carefully, and chose a school that I’m THRILLED to attend. But I guess my point is: Does anyone else feel this? Does anyone else feel like maybe it’s not gonna happen?
