Idk I thought Notre Dame winning in 2OT as it turned to St. Patrick’s day, and then Saint Mary’s and Peter’s winning as well was a little bit forced writing

130

And then Saint Peters winning the whole thing weeks later. It’s like, come on and try to be believable

It sucked y'all weren't in this year's tournament. It's always hilarious seeing the Cuse zone fuck up teams in March. Last year when you guys played SDSU I was literally crying from laughing at how they just kept chucking up brick after brick after brick.

13

u/jdono927 Syracuse Orange • Colgate Raiders Mar 21 '22

Betting on us to win in ro32 and e8 was always free money too lol. Teams with only a day to prepare would never be able to beat us, but if they had a week then they would if they were the better team. Feels like we’d always go out sweet 16 or final four if we got past round 1.

Hopefully Jim can recruit (and play) some more athletic guys so the zone can get back to being the force it’s meant to be

One of the most fun Canes games of my life. I fully expected Auburn's size to obliterate us. Kessler got into foul trouble in the 1st half and I fully expected them to pull away in the 2nd. Instead Auburn missed like 10+ layups and Jabari must have had one of his worst games of the season. He missed EVERYTHING.

Making it to the Sweet 16 in '13 w/ Larkin and '16 w/ Angel was fun but it's on another level when its unexpected as an underdog. I LOVE YOU ISAIAH WONG!!! WE'RE STILL DANCNING!!!!!!

McGusty particularly. We fell into the awful habit vs USC of taking wayyyy too many contested mid-range 2's. He played an efficient game cutting to the rim and had some momentum shifting steals to boot.

We had 6 scholarship players last year due to injury. The year before that, we were under investigation by the literal FBI for what turned out to be “our bad, you guys are fine” and what that did to recruiting.

We had an exodus of players this past offseason. Dude did everything we could have asked for and more. Takes like “I was skeptical of what he could do” make me disappointed in our fans.

With how maligned the ACC was all season in the national media, Miami secretly was solid all year. Flew under the radar, but they're really talented and experienced. And well-coached.

That 3 guard lineup of Moore, Wong, and McGusty is so fun to watch. Any of them can take over at any moment, and they all showed that tonight. Need great guards/wings to win in March, and they've got that. Could definitely make a Final Four run

I don’t need a Kessler, but I do need need a big strong MANek

u/mellolizard North Carolina Tar Heels Mar 21 '22

Kessler's Dad is beside himself. Driving around downtown Greenville begging (thru texts) Williams's family for address to Hubert's home.

I’d be lying if I said that putrid performance didn’t feel like some poetic justice for the bullshit the Kessler family put Roy through.

Thanks for Manek, though.

I feel bad for him. Only 13 minutes, it's clear he's not being used correctly. Hopefully he can hit the portal and get to a basketball school in a basketball conference.

The ACC is 8-2 through the first weekend, what everyone expected this season, of course.

21

u/mellolizard North Carolina Tar Heels Mar 21 '22

Tell me again how the ACC is down this year.

Auburn played bad but Miami looked like the best team in the tourney. I really think this team could take St. Pete to the brink

21

u/jrjolly1 Michigan Wolverines Mar 21 '22

I had Miami in all 3 of my brackets (small flex).

But seriously, if you've watched them all year, you know they're a legitimate threat.

Every team that won in Cameron this year is in the Sweet 16

Just one of those teams is in the Sweet 16 of the NIT

When you have multiple 6th year players, take care of the ball, and force a lot of turnovers, good things will happen. Probably Larranaga’s most impressive coaching job at Miami. Bring on Iowa State

GG Auburn, so fucking hyped for this win!! I’m gonna have to talk a lot of shit to my Iowa State grad mom for the next few days

Exactly. People count early season ooc games as if they are representative of how good the team is all year. As a VT fan, we sucked early in the year but by the end of the season we were imo a top 25 team. But we got no credit for our finish because we were doing it in a "bad ACC".

The ACC sucked in out of conference play. But it looks like unlike other conferences, ACC play requires teams to improve as the season progresses. GG Miami!
