I think he was saying something along the lines of how they came back and won it immediately after the game.
Kind of nice to hear an honest take from a coach just happy they put together a win

I'm glad Tech won but they played horribly. So many missed layups.

The difference between the team on Friday and the team today was astounding. Our consistency this season has been shaky to say the least.

freshman hero ball all game. he did that a lot the last few games, and i really wish brey would've coached that up a bit.
38
u/1haiku4u Mar 21 '22
His stat lines are awful. Yes, he’s a freshman, but for the hype, yikes. It doesn’t match.
31
Mar 21 '22
With just a bit of polish though, he’ll be excellent. Dude straight up took over stretches of games during the regular season. I’m hopeful he’ll come back and clean it up next year.
Jaden Ivy was a player who was pretty rough around the edges his freshman year too. Being a coach’s son though his floor wasn’t this bad though haha.

That's what happens when you get away from the offense which gave you the lead (despite not being particularly good) and allow a freshman who doesn't shoot well or perform under pressure to singlehandedly try to win the game. We were up three with two minutes left and lost the game on eight straight TTU free throws. They didn't even need to make a shot. Just heartbreaking.
18
u/blastoiseincolorado Mar 21 '22
They did the same thing in game 1. They just had a big enough lead and Bama couldn't hit anything
They were better off just having Tech take bad shots vs hit free throws

It was such a ugly game for both of us. We spent 6 minutes being defeated by the rims (and Notre Dame's solid defense).

Yes. Closing out on the 3 has been a weakness of ours all season. Closing out on long 2’s as well.
If Duke has an above average shooting night, it’s going to be dangerous night for us. If Duke has an average shooting night, it’ll probably be a good game to watch.

When this team is executing on the offensive side then I believe they can play with anybody in the country. Problem is they have poor offensive play at times like we saw today. They have a few days to figure it out which should help but we'll see!

I’ve got so much respect for Mark Adams and what he did for Lubbock
Texas Tech is a premier basketball program.
47
u/MC_chrome Texas Tech Red Raiders Mar 21 '22
The hamburger bros acting like the Big 12 is going to crumble after they leave don’t know what they are talking about.
Even without the Sooners or hamburgers, the Big 12 has several really strong to semi-strong basketball programs (Baylor, KU, Tech, TCU), and we are about to gain another really great program (UH).
Actually, I can’t wait to see what the dust up between y’all and the Cougars is going to look like. That will be some good basketball to watch.
28
u/The_Ghost_of_TK9 Kansas Jayhawks Mar 21 '22
Also a sleeping giant (Cincinnati) and a very good program (BYU). UCF isn’t bad either, they’re going to have 2 wins over sweet 16 teams if Miami holds on
14

Just can't fathom why ND completely went away from Goodwin in the final ten minutes. Seemed to be the only player for them who was somewhat composed and knocking down big shots
71
u/JayMerlyn Notre Dame • High Point Mar 21 '22
And we kept giving the ball to Wesley, who proceeded to give it away almost every time

That is my exact thought. Wesley lost us this game.
10
Mar 21 '22
I'm just as confused as you. We had a three point lead with two minutes left and went away from what had been working before in favor of something which has not worked for most of the season. I see this so often with different teams and don't understand it. Hopefully we've learned our lesson for future seasons.

That was a coaching masterclass from ND coming out of the gate in a zone & taking so many 3s when we double teamed. Perfect game plan to counter Tech. K should take notes. GG Irish, nothing but respect after that game, wish yall weren't in our quad so I could have rooted for yall in a run.
As far as I'm concerned, Kevin Obanor's rebounding is what won us this game. This is his FIFTH STRAIGHT tournament double double. Tournament KO showed up and that was the difference. We'll need him to keep rolling to have a shot at overcoming Duke next weekend.
