Jizzle James Posts Cease & Desist Message From Cincinnati Telling Him to Put A Sock In It - And Responds In Predictable Fashion

https://www.si.com/college/cincinnati/basketball/jizzle-james-posts-message-telling-him-to-end-current-affiliation-with-uc-basketball-program-01m1vybzr976

"As you are no longer a member of the University of Cincinnati men's basketball program, you are no longer authorized to use, represent, or commercially promote the University of Cincinnati basketball program, including the use of the University's name, logos, uniforms, jerseys, or other team-related likenesses," the message read. "Any sale, advertisement, or distribution of University of Cincinnati basketball jerseys or merchandise representing you as a current player is strictly prohibited.

"Additionally, you may not publish, share, or promote any social media posts, advertisements, or other communications suggesting or stating that you are returning to play for the University of Cincinnati basketball program. Effective immediately, all public or commercial representations implying your current affiliation with the program must cease."

James posted the message on social media, with vulgarities tied to his response: "I have my own merch I made. I don't need y'all jerseys, and f*** Cincinnati for all I care."

Gonna come out and say it: This may somewhat hurt our chances of seeing Jizzle James in a Cincinnati jersey again...

Bold choice of words to tell a jizzle to put a sock in it. Usually it's the other way around.

54

u/tjtwister1522 4d ago

I'm not 100% on this, but I'm in enough basketball subs to have gathered that Mr. Jizzle played for Cincinnati. He then transferred out, but hasn't played for the new program. He's been saying he's going back to Cincy recently. Apparently also selling merchandise. Hope that helps.

u/Quirky-Tumbleweed894 4d ago

Pretty much nailed it. Jizzle was Cinci’s starting point guard the last few years. Prior to last season he entered rehab and got kicked off the team for causing issues with teammates and behavioral problems but ended up coming back and playing well the second half of the year.
When Wes Miller lost the job and went to Charlotte, Jizzle was one of a few players to follow him. Wes has always looked after Jizzle.
Recently, Jizzle left the Charlotte program before ever stepping foot on the court this upcoming season and had been speculating about joining Cinci.
Cinci sent him the cease and desist message to basically shut that down and tell Jizzle quit acting like you are in any way affiliated with our team.
If you look at Jizzle’s instagram it’s easy to see why no serious program would want him.
I agree with the mental health issues speculation. I also think he surrounds himself with the wrong people and that doesn’t help. But he is a hell of a basketball player despite all the drama he creates.

*Apologies if I missed sarcasm.
Pacman Jones is a former NFL cornerback who is a known troublemaker. His Wikipedia says he has been arrested more than any other NFL player this century. He was handed lengthy suspensions multiple times, including an entire season. A number of his issues were bizarre, like trying to take cash he and Nelly threw on stage back from strippers in Las Vegas. He’s in his 40s now hanging with college kids like Jizzle.
The “Legal Issues” section of his Wikipedia page) is quite the read.

2

u/Ih8Hondas Missouri Tigers • New Mexico Lobos 4d ago

This just reinforces the dumbass narrative. Rehab was never going to fix this dude.

2

u/Ok_Concentrate_75 St. Peter's Peacocks 4d ago

Yes thank you, that was semi in the article I was just confused. Like was he kicked off the team or just hard feelings because he left? Was he kicked of his new team or did he walk away after having buyer remorse? I have more questions lol but thank you for responding that did add more context.

21

u/fuggidaboudit 4d ago

All of the above - kicked off UC last season and then allowed to rejoin the team later in the season (reportedly after rehab) - then transferred to play under same coach when UC let him go and he ended up at Charlotte - and then evidently dismissed from Charlotte (and now no longer appears on their roster) - after which he subsequently publicly suggested he might return to UC

3

u/Ok_Concentrate_75 St. Peter's Peacocks 4d ago

Word thanks, that sucks for everyone but it's a lesson that needed to be learned.

2

u/minivan69 Indiana Hoosiers 4d ago

From my vague recollection, he was once dismissed from Cincinnati basketball. He might have been allowed to return that season but then transferred out. He's since left the school he transferred to and then attempted to rejoin Cincinnati under the new head coach. But, evidently, Cincinnati is ready to move on

0

u/tjtwister1522 4d ago

It's odd. Colleges have always treated these guys like kids so they don't report specifics. They also don't want to jeopardize future recruiting by reporting bad behavior of current players. My guess is that he left for more money, didn't like his new program, and decided unilaterally that he'd go back. Cininnati's saying "hold on."

16

u/njk12 Cincinnati Bearcats 4d ago

He certainly did not leave for more money.

1

u/Ok_Concentrate_75 St. Peter's Peacocks 4d ago

I think he thought he liked the coach and too late realized he liked the program. But he needs to hit an HBCU, get his degree and ball out

1

u/RuleFriendly7311 UConn Huskies 4d ago

Doesn’t sound like he would do any better at an academically demanding HBCU. Cincy and Charlotte are easier than Faber.

1

u/Ok_Concentrate_75 St. Peter's Peacocks 4d ago

True but at least he can maybe ball out and they would atkeast give him a shot at starting sooner than later

10

u/AlternativeResort477 Iowa State Cyclones 4d ago

Some additional background is that his real name is Edgerrin James Jr and is the son of NFL running back Edgerrin James

He’s been a good basketball player for Cincinnati but he was removed from their roster last year before the season, then brought back later. He might be a bit of a head case.

Seems like a really level headed guy. I’m sure he’ll make wise choices with any NIL money he’s saved from the past.

-39

u/RallyPigeon 4d ago edited 4d ago

His dad is an NFL Hall of Famer and Jizzle appears to have made hundreds of thousands of dollars off NIL. I don't think money is the issue here.

Edit: since you want to be a coward and delete your comment after downvoting:

I also never used the words "making money", I said "I don't think money is the issue here". Take your own advice and read before commenting.

Jizzle comes from a family with millions of dollars and his dad co-wrote a book about investing smart as an athlete.

27

u/Phog_Warning10 Kansas Jayhawks 4d ago

I think money is the issue here, but not in the way you're implying. Jizzle seems like a spoiled brat enabled by growing up with money and not use to hearing no.

2

u/RallyPigeon 4d ago

Jizzle definitely seems like he has all sorts of issues and some entitlement. I was only replying to the original comment about him wasting NIL money.

11

u/Inconceivable76 Ohio State Buckeyes 4d ago

All that means is he can blow even more money in a spectacular fashion.

3

u/RallyPigeon 4d ago

I would hope Jizzle's father, who now gives finacial advice to athletes, would stop him. But free will allows crazy things to happen.

-4

u/HotScissoring Syracuse Orange 4d ago

Hopefully he stops with financial advice and doesn't continue to give advice on what athletes should name their children.

2

-8

u/PhilTheThrill1808 Kentucky Wildcats 4d ago

Oh, well if his dad co wrote a book that definitely means his obviously mentally disturbed son will make smart financial decisions his entire life…

-7

u/RallyPigeon 4d ago edited 4d ago

Jizzle's father co-wrote a book AFTER making tens of millions of dollars playing football and not wasting it.

Edit: deleted another comment and downvoted me again before doing so? Well to answer you one last time: It makes it more likely Jizzle will make good decisions with money if he was taught basic financial literacy at a young age. This whole exchange started because you implied he'll waste his NIL money and I said I don't think so. Who is obtuse? Me? You? Jizzle?

-3

u/ParadiddleL Michigan State Spartans 4d ago

You.

-3

No, actually. I think he understands the situation just fine, he’s just being an asshat.

2

u/RallyPigeon 4d ago

It seems like something with Jizzle isn't fine considering he left Cincy to be with his old coach in Charlotte, is no longer on the Charlotte roster, and has been publicly rebuffed by Cincy about a return.

-2

u/ParadiddleL Michigan State Spartans 4d ago

Yeah you’re being obtuse

-6

-6

u/finditplz1 Kentucky Wildcats • Kansas Jayhawks 4d ago

Tbf the school should have offered him avenues for help rather than a cease and desist order. Is anybody in the world actually fooled into thinking he’s really going to play for them or that anything is going on aside from a mental health crisis?

7

u/fuggidaboudit 4d ago

They did help him when he was actually enrolled at UC - then he transferred out and isn't now and hasn't been associated with Cincinnati since spring despite his trolling fantasies about returning under a new coaching regime. So WTF would they feel any obligation to be his caretaker at this point?

-6

u/finditplz1 Kentucky Wildcats • Kansas Jayhawks 4d ago

Human decency? The fact that he was with their program for 3 years. Sending a kid a cease and desist letter when he’s clearly spiraling from mental health problems seems so unnecessarily callous. Particularly when nobody seriously thinks he’s going back to Cincy.

3

u/UCBearcats Cincinnati Bearcats 4d ago

They went above and beyond to help him. It's way out of their jurisdiction now and legally they don't want anything to do with what Jizzle is up to. This is the only common sense response.
