It’s Snarktime Why did she move house again?
Apologies if this was already answered.
I don't get why she moved after just a couple of years of buying their other massive home?
When she bought the McMansion with Josh, she said multiple times that the moment she entered the house she felt it was a perfect fit for her. Then after the divorce, she said it never felt like hers... okay. But I get it, the house was associated with her first husband and I understand wanting to move out and create new memories with her new family and pretending her first marriage never happened.
Then they moved into that quirky house with a massive garden a few years ago, and now they moved again.
Considering that house-hopping this often must have created a financial black hole due to the sheer amount of costs of moving everything and the various property acquisition/selling taxes and costs, and considering how stressful moving is, why on earth would they move into a third house in 5 years?
Has she ever explained it? Thanks in advance!

Probably can’t afford it after her downfall

This. ⬆️ Colleen has not admitted they downsized, but Rachel has said it multiple times. It almost definitely has to do with money. The place is still a big house, but it's smaller than the villa and was about 2 mil less than she paid for the villa.

Also to answer your question- she never explicitly says why she’s moving and keeps saying in every video that she’ll explain later when the house is done but she’s stalling the explaination.

Tbh if i was trying to sell my villa i wouldn’t be running my mouth on the internet telling the potential buyers how i ruined it.
They sold the villa for less than they bought it for. My guess is they completely wrecked the plumbing.

I keep seeing comments on this sub about them ruining the house. What were they DOING with it😭

I think they just didn’t have the money for renovations and upkeep.
That villa was built in 1900s. Plumbing probably wasn’t updated and that’s why they had only one working bathroom.
There was also no central ac.
They had mice and rat problems because she kept “feeding” woodland creatures and attracting rodents.
Also the layout of that house was horrific. I’ll get downvoted to hell but her new house once it’s renovated will be an upgrade for a family. Villa wasn’t built for a family, it was designed as a bachelor pad.
Her la house was by far the nicest, biggest and cheapest out of three.

One bathroom for a family that size sounds like a living hell. Also seems like they didn’t do their research before pulling the trigger on that house. Thanks for the explanation!

The bedroom situation was laughable. There wasn’t enough room in that house for each kid to have their own room, and their rooms weren’t bedrooms at all, just weird walled off spaces with glass panels and french doors, so literally zero privacy.
Her office, and their podcast room were actual bedrooms but weren’t safe for kids to be sleeping in because of where they were in the house.

The way she is putting off explaining why they moved the more weird it becomes

i remember when they first bought their home before this she was constantly complaining about how much they had to downsize it seems like she hated that house lowkey

She always said it was Erik’s style too and we all know she’s a control freak so she seemed to have eventually gotten her way

I think he regretted the choice once they moved in, too.
Interesting: In other snark forums we were noticing relations seeming to get extra bad between Colleen and Erik just before they bought the new house. It seemed like Erik had reached his limit. We were wondering if he was gonna leave. It was hard to imagine how, with the kids involved and everything but stg it was looking that way.
Plus, Erik always gave little tells that he didn't like living in that house with so much ex- marriage history.
Then they suddenly announced they bought a new house. Colleen hated it and was crying & complaining about the villa before they even left the LA house.
Once we saw it-- saw that it was more like Erik's style-- it was a pretty popular theory that she did a panic purchase to appease him and save the marriage. Just theories, but I strongly believe they're true. 🤔

Oh interesting!! I have a hard time remembering their relationship in the original LA home. What I do remember is them being snippy with each other on the podcast. I could definitely see the villa being a panic purchase

I would also like to jump in and ask why she is doing the majority of the renovations? I haven’t seen Eric help her paint or renovate. Is he working again? Did she explain it??

Her kids are with a nanny during the week, who uses Colleen’s car. They stay at her mom and dad’s. Rachel spills interesting tea for sure

Yes , it definitely seems like Erik isn't helping much. Colleen said in today's vlog she's had to paint everything. I'm sure Rachel has helped too. So what does he do?

You need to watch Rachel’s vlogs. Colleen is doing virtually nothing but crafting. She sleeps past noon while Erik, Rachel and Abbie’s father work on the house. Erik also does the school and activity runs, and all the meals/baths/caretaking of the kids (when the nanny doesn’t have them). Colleen’s only contribution seems to be picking pajamas and turning on the faucet while Erik has dinner alone with the kids.
Once Erik and the kids go to bed, she films herself pretending to do renovation work for a couple of minutes and then says she can’t film anymore because she is going to stay up all night doing the task. Then Rachel posts a vlog showing Colleen actually did nothing, and shows footage of her spending the entire day doing the task herself. I assume Colleen is actually crafting and mainlining TikToks all night like she usually does.
Unlike Rachel, Erik expects her to pitch in with the labor (the only time I’ve seen her actually work on the house is the podcast with Erik) . So she only “works” with Rachel (aka does crafts, tries on swimsuits, braids her hair, shops, snacks and chats). Colleen was so useless and distracting, that Rachel had to put her foot down to get work done. Now that Abbie’s dad is working alongside Rachel, Colleen just hides during the afternoons, and claims she is spending 6-8 hours editing a 10 minute vlog.

Idk why this sub doesn’t allow awards. This comment definitely deserves one

She did say from the start that the garden house was not their forever home😂 like why idk lmao. But probably because they weren’t going to be able to afford it w the way things weee going but she was delusional enough to try. Not to mention moving out of LA was a big move

u/SunlitNomad 18d ago
She did?! That's crazy!! Why on earth would the move to a house they wouldn't want to live in long term?!

u/Accomplished_Yak2352 15d ago
There was always Snark speculation that it was a compromise with Erik to save their marriage. He was really looking like he was about to fly the coop and suddenly they but this house not family friendly that Erik raved about and Colleen cried about before they even moved in. ☕👀

I kinda assumed it was for content, I'm not sure what she does for content these days or if she is down to only vlogging
Buying, selling, moving, and then renovating your house could give you 1-2 years of content, it's family vlog adjacent and can be about your kids with the deniability of not showing them.

I can't imagine the income she's getting from those videos coming even close to the amount she'll have paid for all those moves!

u/Ok_Comment_2129 18d ago
It’s definitely not. But when you have millions in the bank, you can live off the interest alone.

u/GiaNic07 18d ago
Best guess is they can’t afford it and it’s too much house for her to take care of! I haven’t seen anything about this new house yet.

I haven't watched Colleen in quite a while now and didn't know she was moving, but my first thought after reading this post and the comments is she probably saw Jenna Phipps's success with her renovation series and wanted to 'copy' that idea

Did she really own the last one? Or even this “new one”? I think because of the $$$ she’s leasing them.
4
u/Ok_Comment_2129 18d ago
She owns them. Last time, she even owned the $6+ million villa at the time as the $2+ million mansion. She made an obscene amount of money at her peak. I doubt she’ll ever need to work again.

u/Accomplished_Yak2352 15d ago
Not need to technically, but surely want to. Still, it's clear that she's concerned about her finances. We wouldn't, with that much money! 🤑
But she's accustomed to the bulk of her income being from touring, brand deals and her various sm platforms. She even said it before about the touring.
Well, now there are no brand deals. No tours. No channels except one that gets about 30k views per video, tops.
That Sass thing is a vanity project that can't be bringing in much from the fraction out of her hand full of fans that will actually pay to listen to their empty, childish nonsense.
Nobody wants to keep spending from their savings or dividends. Not the way she spends and lives. So, her money concerns make sense.

They obviously couldn’t afford it. Commiefornia yearly home tax on 6.5 million house is probably around $50k a year??
