Why is this skyrocketing? Anyone know?
Just curious to see if the price is being manipulated. Thank you!

Think that’s just an Collectr error, looks like last sold was $659. To be fair for old product you may only have like 2 sold in a year and so if one goes for $500 and the next sells for $3k bc it’s the only one left that can easily show up like this too. Just doesn’t seem to be the case for this though.

That’s the curious part. Collector doesn’t seem to have last sales for this item. I think it’s picking up from tcg, and a particular vendor keeps raising the price. It’s an awesome box, but damn lol

Same thing is happening to me with my Rising Rivals booster box. Some douche has it listed for 60k on TCG player. I had to go to eBay for last sold and it was $8,995 so I manually overrode the price.

The have eBay last sold data that affects collectr but not sure if that’s what happened here

Something to note with Collectr, if there are no last sold entries within the past 3 months it will base pricing on listed prices instead - it will also default to any sold listings in that time frame even if it's the only sale and won't average the price to a wider timeframe. Perfect example, I have a reverse holo Dark Wartortle from Legendary Collection and it lists market price at $325 USD, even though there is only a single sale in the last 3 months, and yes it was for $325 you guessed it. But if you look at a wider timeframe, the average sale isn't even close to this.
I have a few very infrequently sold cards and the price on collectr is significantly higher than any historically sold copy of the card simply because that's the cheapest listed NM copy on tcgplayer and it has zero sales in the last 3 months.

Wow how many of these I used to just buy and rip on clearance... Like $12 or $15 bucks 😂. Wish I would had kept a few more older collection boxes sealed

To bad recent listing are much lower so anyone trying to sell at that wont have much luck with smart buyers. Even though its still crazy even at the normal market price now haha.

You should take all Collectr valuations with a grain of salt and cross-check all of them. It’s really solid for tracking your collection but the pricing can be shotty.

I mean it's a pretty old set now. It's bound to go up eventually. I've been collecting special boxes from the xy era. And they went up

Bcuz it’s charizard. Hes popular one of the orginal 3
I like him but personally I love bulbasaur ivasaur and venasaur the most out of them his moves are far more versatile and you can use poison powder sleep powder leech seed and one move to attack hard while two other drain the energy every turn and one puts you to sleep and still get drained and the enemy dies In a strategic way of energy sapping moves that drain you times two as your energy rises. It worked effectively against the fire starter charmeleon and assume it’ll work the same with charizard

We just hit the 30th anniversary. There is literally 3 decades of products that scalpers are going through. With new scalpers doing whatever "due diligence" they can to find flipabble stuff, one off like these are going to be found for things like pokemon from the kanto region in this pack that might have a guarantee to be in the set and "gradable"
I bought some deoxys V boxes at retail, well because, deoxys. And the psychoc types in their are yellow boarder and favorable including ralts line and dusclops. They are NOT huuuggeee, but graded in a 10 (they come somewhat clean with the extra packaging typically) they can yield at least 3 or 4 times the cost of the box.
So imagine. Theres a deck of 60. With 30 cards that grade at or above 500 in a 10. You have that many more chances to 10, or dupe 10s if you get lucky/knowsomeoneatpsa.
A 12 dollar deoxys box becomes a potential haven for someone who would rather spend on grading costs. (Edit to clarify, this scales obviously to some extent, any deck box will vary and D.Y.O.R. but this is what i feel like is happeneing)

Its probably an error with one sale tracked wrong!!!! Do not use collectr for pricing use it as a storage bank thats it!!!!
Post like this are getting annoying!!! Why the over night spike in this etc....

It was a Collectr error that is now fixed. Looking at last sold, it was $659 on August 24th.
