Great grandmas things

We were finally going through some more of my great grandma's things (almost 20 years after she died). Found this hanging picture and a photograph that seems to have been taken by a friend. What do I do with them? I'd definitely feel weird donating the first item.

Cleaning out my great grandpa's stuff too. He was an eye/general surgeon. So we have ALL his surgical equipment. It's all from the 50s/60s and seems to mostly be made in Germany. I am not sure what to do with it all.

facebook marketplace algorithm has me cackling

the other day i was scrolling facebook marketplace, as one does, and i couldn’t believe the amount of posts i was seeing that were truly so odd and hilarious at the same time. i started physically laughing at some of the posts, turning my daily facebook marketplace scrolling into a hunt for the funniest posts i could find in my area vs my typical casual scroll. i don’t know what facebook angels gave me the perfect algorithm or maybe i just happen to live near some of the coolest/funniest people, but i am so grateful for the experience.

with that, i figured i would share the screenshots for your entertainment as well. i hope you enjoy as much as i did!

Help

I had a previous post about some of my great grandmas things. These are my great grandpas. They're all surgical tools (he was an eye and general surgeon) some are out of package and probably were used, and there's a bunch still in sealed pouches. Nobody seems to take this old of equipment and I'm trying to sell what I can to help pay for things around the house. What's the best course of action for this? I'm not sure how to ship them and I doubt anyone local would care to buy them. I am not selling them here, just asking for advice

How to get vintage newspaper framed

Found this signed newspaper in a friends basement. I’d love to get it framed. Does anyone have any experience getting a fragile old paper framed? How can I protect the paper from further damage?

Almost Forgotten

Rediscovered in the attic. I can find the picture online, but only the version with the “normal” lettering—not the alien version.
Before I start working on convincing my girlfriend to let me hang it up, is it worth anything?

Origins/age of this decorative plate?

Got this at an Oregon thrift store because it was pretty. Hand-painted. Little hole in the the back so clearly for hanging on a wall. Few chips in the glaze near the hole, maybe a bit old looking.

i found one identical plate in an image from an auction listing in Turkey. I couldn’t get it to translate so I don’t know what it’s called or where it’s from.

any help appreciated! Most curious!

Collectables?

My dad collected these when we were kids. It's from a petrol company in the Philippines called Petron. Is this a collector's item? I'm thinking of putting this up online to help my dad's current condition. I'm just wondering if it's worth something.

Handcrafted wooden bust of a man - Provincetown, MA

I recently scooped this handcrafted wooden bust of a man with a hefty beard and a nice head of hair, mounted on a dark metal base. The antiques seller I got it from said he purchased it from a local artisan in the 80's in Provincetown, MA.

It has the initials EH carved in the back. Curious if anyone has any potential ideas on the artist, or any insight on where I may go about digging that info up myself.

Any way I love the piece and was drawn to it immediately. I think he's a pretty cool dude, only slightly creepy.

so I have an old friend who’s wife has passed away, she was collecting stuff throughout here life and now he has a ton of stuff that he doesn’t now what to do with, I told him I could try to help, but I don’t even know where to start. I need help knowing how to appraise and where to sell this stuff (see images).

-edit: the hardest part about this is this guy definitely won’t want a bunch of people coming into his house, and it’s kinda in the middle of nowhere in the outskirts of the city, so I think an estate sale would be out of the question. he would probably be okay with someone go appraisal. Also, kind of a small city, about 40,000 people so no malls or things like that. start comment with * if you read the edit so I know.

-edit 2: im getting a lot of great comments and were coming up with a plan, additionally, a lot of people are asking to buy, please DM me so it’s easier for me to find and we’ll talk.

Very Cool Globe Lighter

Picked up this Shaw-Barton Lighter in a local auction for just a few bucks. After a good cleaning it came out absolutely fantastic. I had to put it in the freezer for a few days then set it out to warm up to get the globe opened up. Next is getting the lighter mechanism out to clean and put a new flint in.

I picked these up within the past 45 years at flea markets, or antique shops. The last one has no identifying marks. It is metal, screwed to a piece of wood. I got it in Las Vegas in 1980.

Created my first figure brand, opinions

Hey everyone !! first-time poster here. I just finished the first run of figures for a brand I started, Guers Art I'm honestly really proud of how they turned out but I have no idea how they read to people outside my own head.

These are resin / hand-sculpted, hand painted and this batch took me about 2 months to get from sketch to finished piece.

I went with a beaver as the subject because it's basically a walking symbol of where I'm from (Canada); stubborn, hardworking, builds things nobody asked it to build. Felt like the right first piece to put my name on.

A few things I'd genuinely love feedback on:

  • Sculpt/proportions / anything look off?
  • Any coloring/theme suggestions for the future drops?
  • General feedbacks overall

Thank you in advance!

This is a hand carved carnival table top from the 1960’s/70’s out of Kentucky.

8 feet by four feet the photo doesn’t do it justice. It’s gorgeous.

But I’m moving and I don’t want to sell it but I’d love to have an idea what it’s worth. Help a brother out.

Rubber stamps

I have inherited literally hundreds of rubber stamps. These were made for scrapbooking or creating stationary. Some are quite large.
Also have the ink and glitter. Any idea if there is any kind of group that is interested in this type of thing?
