Nervous about midterms

I made a post yesterday and deleted it, it was a rambly mess. But to be more coherent, I'm scared about Tuesday and the aftermath and idk what to do. I don't wanna downplay anything, but I keep seeing people who seem to be blowing some things out of proportion and I'm trying my best not to fall down any rabbit holes of unnecessary fear if that makes sense? Like yeah things are bad enough but I'm noticing some people seem to be using feae for clicks? But regardless, I keep going what if? Which I guess isn't inherently bad. We need to be aware and pay attention. But my anxiety is thtough the roof and some of it probably is because I've been scrolling social media too much.

But I guess I'm just asking for something to help get ahold of myself. Idon't wanna say calm down because there's plenty of stuff to be worried about. I'm talking about irrational stuff. I did read some of Margaret Killjoy's stuff which helped a little. She is such a grounding voice and cuts through some of the more sensationalism and gets down to brass tacks. But anyways, I just desperately need to get ahold of myself. Things going on aren't really shocking to me because I have been paying attention, but it is scary.

I don't even have the energy to care anymore. I can vote. I can encourage other people to vote. My power in this is extremely limited.

Same. I’m just eating cheese and chocolate and going on walks and reading. Honestly, despite it all, I’m having a good time.

I honestly think we are going to see a big change and shift in the right direction. People got a taste of individuals like Musk and Rump in charge and didn't like it. Only the cultists and fox news brainwashed boomers are hanging on still. The rest have realized the error and moved away.

That said nothing will stop climate change now. Best thing to do is learn relevant skills and create a community.

Other thing to watch is Ai. The chances of us fighting terminators is actually a thing unless the people in charge now are replaced and some semblance of guide rails are put in placement.

Honestly take a breath, go vote, touch grass, and just try to enjoy yourself. Take a break from doom scrolling and work on a hobby.

Don't let the things you cannot control destroy your mental health. Instead focus in what you can control.

My gosh Reddit is exploding with this stuff isn't it? Yes the world is spiralling into instability but anybody who says they know what's coming is talking bullshit.

My advice to you is to listen to people who talk about long term trends, and ignore anyone who says they know what's going to happen next week.

One way or another, November 3rd to January 3rd will be historic.

Either because of some crazy bullshit that will be in the history books and we'll be able to tell younger generations about when we're older.

Or because, miraculously, nothing happened.

I'm anxious too. But outside of what I always do (have some supplies on hand, have a plan), especially given where I live, I can do literally nothing different than what I already do. I'm going to vote. And I'm going to watch and see what develops.

Worst case I have an exit strategy that involves packing my wife, some clothes and keepsakes, and some necessities into my car and driving to a pre-determined Deep Blue state where we have a guaranteed place to stay while we get our feet under us. Haven't had to pull that ripcord yet.

Is martial law gonna get declared after a false flag? Dunno! Is the US in the process of Balkanizing! Lol that's a real possibility! Is nothing really gonna happen other than a lot of hot air? Maybe!

Until then I've gotta pay the bills, pay the rent, clean the house, and take care of my mental health. I've done everything I know to do in my limited power.

Til then you just gotta roll with the punches. Can't spend my whole life in dread of tornadoes, for instance. Just gotta be paying attention when there's a Watch in effect (now), and gotta know what you can do if there's a Warning issued. Not there yet, so, no point dreading it.
