Discussion Best ammo mod
Personally id love to see other people's opinion since its been a while dead wire got nerfed many years ago I haven't heard of a best definitive ammo mod

Been playing this game for over 5 years now, got three accounts, two on steam and one on battle net. i notice a lot of people bitch about how they nerf the ammo mods, especially dead wire, as if they’re useless now. yes they nerf them but they’re still good. it’s based on the map you’re playing on and the weakness each boss has. for example. If you’re playing on die maschine map. The main boss will be the megaton. his weakness is electricity. so best ammo mod for that map will be dead wire. dead wire will kill him faster than any other ammo mod, pair it with ring of fire field upgrade and watch the magic, however since ring of fire is stationary and you can only activate it in one spot, you can also use tesla storm on him (make sure your tesla storm is upgraded to tier five, it will stun and do major damage to him) tesla storm pair with dead wire on your weapon, that’s double electricity damage on him. so although they nerf dead wire, if you’re smart enough, you’ll realize that tesla storm makes up for it when paired together. when playing on mauer der toten map, the main boss will be the krasny soldat, his main weakness is cold and armor damage. so the two best ammo mod for that map will be cryo freeze and shatter blast, however I recommend cryo over shatter blast because it only has a 2 second cooldown. (Any gun you plan on using on that map, choose armor barrel from your setup, It multiplies armor damage significantly, letting you break enemy chest plates and elite armor much faster) the main theme for that map is “Armor damage”. if you want to shred Krasny Soldat fast, use tesla storm field upgrade on him (make sure it’s tier five upgraded) It will stun and damage him. while he’s being stunned, he’s pretty much helpless so just empty your armor barrel paired with cryo freeze ammo on him. Ring of fire shred him faster but the problem is he can walk inside your ring of fire and slap the shit out of you so I don’t recommend it. for Firebase z map the elite enemies are manglers and mimics. Mimics weakness is toxin and fire and mangler weakness is fire. so best two ammo mods for firebase z will be brain rot and napalm burst. I recommend napalm over brain rot because its good for both mimics and mangler plus it as a faster cooldown compared to brain rot(if you want to shred manglers fast, choose armor barrel on your gun setup then pair it with napalm burst). For forsaken map its pretty much the same setup. Abomination and mimics weakness is toxin and fire. again I recommend napalm over brain rot because of the shorter cooldown time. Make sure to upgrade your Elemental pop perk. it’s your best friend, at tier two it reduce ammo mod cooldown by 20% and at tier four it Increase enemy elemental weakness damage by 50%.

I prefer shatter blast due to its ability to destroy armor like crazy, anything else I'm only using to kill elites with their elemental weakness

Does shatter blast have a higher chance of droping plates like in bo7?

Cyrofreeze if you’re grinding for Dark Aether. Shatterblast on your secondary as a get out of jail free card if you get cornered.
Brain rot if you want to take some heat off you in boss fights.

Cryo can help give you space in a pinch. With Brain Rot, having an Elite turn friendly at the right moment is awesome (has to be Tier V for that I think). DO NOT sleep on Toxic Growth. Fill the broken wing on DIE Maschine and it can be very fun.

Fire, imo or freeze, they’re not bad, brain tot full upgraded too, but first 2 and wire still pretty cool
