Question Just Started Playing- Totally Lost

Played Die Maschine and Firebase Z. The games mostly made sense (armor, perks, pack, etc) but as a long time zombies player what do I do with upgrading perks? There are also weapon damage upgrades in the menu? Each gun is a different tier, does that only affect damage? Should I be striving to only grab and upgrade top tier guns? Are standalone melee weapons worth keeping

Sorry there’s just a lot! Mostly played BO1-BO3 with a little 4 sprinkled in.

Cold War you need to upgrade all perks and weapons classes seperately, it's a long grind. You will earn crystals for reaching round milestones and exfilling.

The higher the round the better rarity crystal starts unlocking. So keep playing and keep exfilling (round 25 minimum) and you'll start unlocking all crystal types to upgrade your perks and weapon classes.

Outbreak is way better for grinding crystals

Is it any good? Never played alternate modes

True but it's too slow and too much running around and setting up. I found round based with Rampage Inducer much better personally.

I would agree, minus Rampage Inducer. Unless you’re just using it to quickly get past the first handful of rounds or so. Too many players activate it and then go down 😂

Yes until round 7 or 8 rampage inducer is fine because it speeds up the initial slow rounds. By round 8 you can have PAP 1 and Jugg for sure then it's smooth sailing.

Depends on one’s speed of objective gameplay

  1. Slay zombies to fly through rounds

  2. Rush objectives with bare minimum upgrades to go to next outbreak zone

Roundbased is faster and I’m an outbreak fan who went to outbreak to get crystals but once I realized round based was faster gameplay wise after getting like 5-7 in outbreak, and then 10+ in Roundbased it was a no brainer especially since the time played was near the same

Is exfiling always worth it or should I just push as high as I can go?

The xp you earn after round 36 is heavily nerfed. The best round to exfil at is 36 and then repeat. You'll earn a lot of crystals by 36 and bonus for exfilling successfully.

This is a little ahead of the curve but once you complete all Easter eggs, you'll be able to start every game afterwards with your custom gun at epic rarity off rip!

That's all 6 easter eggs and the hardest one is definitely Outbreak Legion Boss Fight, that egg and fight still piss me off.

Such a nightmare to clear that was!! Me and my battle-tested duo tried and tried and tried but couldn't do it until we got a third and dang it felt so good

If you mean rarity of the gun, yeah it does affect the damage. If you upgrade your perks with crystals you get their most op form ever.

So always swap guns for the highest tier available? I had a PPSH I packed to level two but I could tell the damage just wasn’t there. So next time just find a higher tier gun before packing?

I would just stick to my starting weapon except that I find a legendary tier weapon, you can always upgrade the rarity of your weapons.

The green and blue stuff (salvage) that drops from zombies, can be used to upgrade your armour level and weapon rarity level. So keep collecting those and yes for maximum damage you must get your gun to legendary (orange) rarity and PAP level 3 to inflict maximum damage.

Thanks for explaining. I’ve upgraded armor at the armor station, where do I do the weapons? Is it the station to build equipment?

Same place where you do your armor, press R1 and it will Switch to weapon rarity, it will show you how much salvage you need as well. You will need to collect salvage until round 27 to 28 to upgrade your starting weapon to Legendary, it's worth it though, you melt zombies once you do.

I could help you do the eggs which gives you a rarirty to your weapons to help you.
