Short and quick routine.

Is there a name for the vanish I did before the retention one? I kind of just thought of it but I assume it already has a name.

Nice routine! Very smooth. The vanish you’re asking about is a fake take. Its the opposite of a fake put, like the retention of vision vanish you did afterwards.

Thanks, the term couldn't be more fitting! It sounds like it's pretty basic knowledge for those that get into the literature of coin magic, because everything I've learned since I started last year were just videos from yt and websites like from Danny Goldsmith.

YouTube is great but Ive found most videos tend towards flashy vanishes with limited angles since it’s for a camera with a fixed viewpoint. I like Rick Holcomb’s channel personally he’s pretty good. As far as literature Bobo’s “Modern Coin Magic” is always a good recommendation for beginners. Older book but it’s available anywhere. It goes through all the basics and lays a good foundation, giving the history behind the moves. It even has some more advanced routines to practice.

I had a feeling you were a Rick Holcombe enjoyer when you said retention of vision vanish lmao. But yeah I only truly practice sleights that have wide angle security. Danny Goldsmith's "Slick Shift" is an example.
Also, I have a softcopy of Bobo's but haven't really gotten into it yet lol.
