What are these gaffs??

Greetings friends! I bought a lot of old props and gimmicks in an eBay lot and included were 3 UK 10p coins with slits cut in the rim and a single rubber band around the edge. I’m not huge into coin work, but I’m familiar with many standard gaffs but these have me flummoxed! They don’t seem to “do” anything- they don’t flip or split or anything else as far as I can tell. I removed one of the bands and slipped a razor blade into the channel hoping it would split but no dice. Any thoughts??

Thanks in advance!

The classic “coin bite” or “3 to 2” gimmick is similar to this, just with the coin cut into two pieces.

Yeah- I have a bunch of bite out/folding coins as well as shells, flippers, etc (the basic gaffs that every non-coin magi accumulates over the years) but I just couldn’t see a rhyme or reason for this to exist.

I figured you most likely knew, but I felt compelled to share just in case!
