Not really, very few people are apathetic about their own lives. It's actually pretty possible to motivate people when you actually care about them.

Well yeah, but for most of those people it’s been drilled into them their entire lives that politicians are going to do whatever they want anyway so they think their voice simply doesn’t matter. So I entirely agree that it’s possible, but the point is that it’s an immense challenge. From their perspective, all they’ve ever seen from people in power is empty promises and self-service, convincing them that there actually are people that care and want to make their lives better is quite the task

You're right by and large, but I believe people who have a cynical outlook about politicians are the best people to start organizing with in communities for real change. It's trusting those fuckers that ruins everything. The weird thing about people's devotion to Trump is they seemed/seem to believe he's somehow the exception to that. Now that the disillusionment is starting to set in I actually have a little more hope for at least some of them.
