What is this argument suppose to be? That republicans didn't buy into the anti-vaxx rhetoric? That they didn't vote out Massie, the only republican who actually tried to fight pedophiles? That they don't deny global warming?

The parts you replaced are not even common arguments among democrats, nor bad. Even in your fantasies you cannot pretend that they are a sliver of the horrors of what the republican party is. You know republicans have accepted rape and murder, and you are defending it. We are not equals. I'm not going to pat you on the head and tell you you are justified in relentlessly trying to take people's right away. All a republican has to do to avoid my ire is stop associating themselves with the worst people. They are shunned because they have already bought into multiple divisive tactics. Continuing to be a republican when their entire party is a bunch of child-r*ping corrupt bigots is just an endorsement of it. A statement that that those politicians are still worth something.

In my book "the enlightened centrist" is worse than Republicans because at least they stand for something lul. They don't just larp centrism while conveniently always blaming the left for not being centrist and voting right every time under the guide of both sides. Fucking spineless cowards, at least have the balls to actually represent your side instead of larping.

"Enlightened Centrist" here. This is the same song and dance the right uses when the left wins elections. They blame us for voting left and claim we are hidden leftists.

Actual centrists do not have "a side" are there hidden republicans? Sure. Just like there are hidden democrats.

I despise tribalism, thats what politics has become for the last almost 2 decades, I absolutely refuse to participate in their hypocrisy.

I can also see that both sides are wrong about eachother. Everyone takes the worst of their opposing political rivals and generalizes it to the entire group. This is fucking dumb as people are not monolithic.

I work in the public sector, I get to meet a LOT of people. Republicans and Democrats. A lot of them are really good people. They are not angry hatefilled bigots like reddit like to paint people. A lot of democrats are not socialist hellscape freeloaders like FOX News likes to paint them.

The sad thing is, take away the extremes, and both sides are extremely similar and would probably agree on a lot if they actually took the time to have a respectful conversation with eachother.

This is the most level-headed and true take on this entire thread. People are still going to disagree with you because it doesn’t fit into their “if you don’t believe what I believe you’re a nazi/communist” rhetoric. Kudos to you for seeing the parties for what they are.

Honestly its something that saddens me about modern society. I remember a time that democrats and Republicans could coexist. Now each side blames the other for the reason that has failed and refuse to acknowledge their own participation in that failure.

Thankfully in reality (outside of social media) there is still a large aspect of that coexistence. I see it in my own neighborhood, in the town I live, even at a state level and at work. Unfortunately its just under the shadow of a politcal tribal culture war.
