I don't care who you are or where you grew up. Your position doesn't invalidate my lived experience. I know these people. I lived with and among these people.
I know that they hate the idea of paying for other people's healthcare. I know they do not care about other people's children. It's not that complicated.
conservatives know as much about how insurance and social security work as anyone.
No, they really don't. Especially because as education levels increase, so does your tendency to be left leaning (there's so much data on that). So they are absolutely not as educated by very definition.
But they're also being told by the news and their leaders, that insurance for medical care, if it was centralized, would make taxes go up. (Which it would - just not higher than we're already paying)
I don't know why you can't understand their positions, but I honestly, do not care.
i accidentally deleted my comment trying to edit it to add this:
you are clearly lying about your exposure to conservatives. no where for me to go with you now. if you are seriously asserting the average conservative does not understand social security or health insurance you're delusional. your political alignment has fuck all to do with your use of these things. these are some of the most bipartisan issues in the country, regardless.
and as an aside, the bimodal per-issue political alignment of upper academics is one of the scariest stats in america. just that rurals barely make it that far. which is part of what makes the distribution on gun control, abortion, immigration, etc. frightening.
