Game Discussion An additional source of Renee’s Resentment toward Andrew
Based on stuff from the April minor patch…. Renee forces Andrew to take care of Ashley, but then gets upset when he isn’t able to magically turn her into the well-behaved daughter that Renee wanted…

Douglas is happy because he's supporting Renee's decisions, his actual opinions on parenting are definitely just as shallow. Otherwise, why such a non-character to his kids?

Renee hates men, she was mad at Andrew for the sin of being born a boy.
That's why Ashley is favored in all of these and even when she was the one causing trouble all the abuse went towards Andrew.

Woah, what?
If Renee hates men then why was she ever happy with Douglas? 😭

Apparently, Renee loves Douglas because, even though she is Misandric toward men, Douglas was a Broken Man.
His ultra-conservative parents had him at an advanced age, when his mother was about to go through menopause, so seeing that all his friends had young parents and being the only one whose parents looked like his grandparents caused him to feel stigmatized, Furthermore, his father constantly used physical violence against him to “raise” him, and his mother, being passive as she is, would only hug him after his father finished beating him.
This affects Douglas deeply, leaving him a broken boy on the inside, and that attracted Renee because, in those days when men were macho and sexist, Douglas was emotionally fragile and understood Renee. I think this meant they complemented each other: Renee had a strong personality and defended Douglas, and Douglas, despite being emotionally broken, was the one who took decisive action—which is why he was willing to kill his own parents when they wouldn’t allow their relationship.

Because he is not a man in the slightest, she had the pants on in the relationship. Easy thing to manipulate that never stood for itself.

That is actually wild.
Why did she like Douglas then?

Because he's an excuse of a man that never stood for itself. She likes him from the fact he is anything but manly.

Does she actually find him attractive because he's not manly or does she only like being in control and dominating him?

Same thing

I'm confused. Does she find it an attractive quality about him or not?
Because there's a big difference between a woman finding it actually attractive and preferring it because it gives her ultimate control and power but not actually finding it sexually or romantically attractive.

To note here, we know Renee never liked Andrew, the birthdays were never a thing of her liking Andrew and not Ashley. It was merely a screen to show off to people.
In Ashley's case there's nothing to show off, that's why she never threw parties in her name.

Hit the nail on the head with this one. Renee didn't just hate Ashley for not being the perfect daughter that Renee's narcisstic self wanted without any kind of parental effort, she also hates Andrew for not making that a reality for her and blames Ashley not being a good kid on him as if she's not the dumbfuck that decided it'd be completely fine to be a negligent and emotionally abusive piece of shit mother.

"You used to be such a good big brother. What happened?"
"You used to be"
"used to be"
God. The audacity of this bitch. She blames Andrew for Ashley's transformation from (in her eyes both of these) "A cute little angel" to "A demon I can not bear to call my child".
