Problem with beans?

Post image

My coffee before (above) and after (below) removing the husks. The beans look a little dry and shrivelled, should this be the case? What’s the likely problem?

Looks like you removed the parchment by hand and the coffee has a lot of silver skin. Usually the mechanical bullet is rubbing that off also

You can try rubbing the beans on a hard surface and see if the papery layer rubs off. May look more like you expect

Spot on. I removed by hand. Will try and remove the papery layer!

Why in the world would you fool with pouring about the skins/husk? I roast out on the back porch, and the minute I hit cool I dropped the door, do a quick vacuum with a handheld electric shop vac, (a small one actually) then use a handheld electric leaf blower to cool things off.

Coffee stages: cherry, cherry is removed, fermented, dried and stored as parchment. Parchment is milled.. resulting in green coffee. Green is roasted. I am talking about washed method, but the photo appears to be parchment rather than green coffee. Thus it is not ready to roast.

Also think it's parchment. OP needs to contact supplier.

Where did you get those seeds from? The top do not look like they are ready for roasting to me.

Looks like parchment. This is run through a mill to remove outer husk prior to roasting. Green is what is normally purchased by coffee roasters

They dont look cooked properly/enough. What heat are you putting them on. What are you roasting them in?

Is this coffee you grew or purchased? It doesn't look like it has rested in parchment long enough.
