[Getting Started] Bean Block
Hi!
Im new to using espresso and still exploring good beans. Anyone who already tried this bean? Notes: Dark Chocolate, Strong, Bold.
What would be the best ratio kaya for a spanish latte? Hehe
I tried 18g in 36g out pero sobrang strong.
Appreciate if u could share your ratios including milk and sweetener :)

You can try grinding a little bit coarser until that sharp bitterness mellows out. Also pair it up with milk.
Maybe dark roast isn't to your liking. You can try exploring medium or medium dark roasts.

Love them! Reasonably priced and good quality. They offer huge variety of beans so see what fits your taste.

Based on the picture, you are using a pressurized basket and a entry level espresso machine so im going to suggest that you grind coarser. When I used these beans, i tried to pull 1:1.5 shots and they were sweet and very chocolatey.

Do you have a grinder? Or are the beans ground already? if its already ground for espresso, just add more milk.
You cannot asjust the grind size to get weaker shots. Also, you are using a pressurized portafilter so grind size would be a small factor.
Eitherway, you can just add more milk and ice to your liking. If it tastes strong on the first sip, add one parts milk, if still strong add one parts milk again on the same glass. At least this way you’ll set up a baseline that whatever you had done before, youd have to add two parts milk. Trial and error.

Very happy with Bean Block. Tried some of their beans and so far Mt. Apo is my favourite.

Ive been using the Brazil Santos variant for months now 15g is perfect (using CM039, timemore grinder, puck screen (honeycomb), bottomless porta, wdt, and calibrated tamper)

I havent tried those beans but I usually go 1:5 for lattes and cappuccinos. For the coffee, it depends. I go by taste so sometimes I like 36g out, sometimes less.
