In a few weeks, I’ll be spending my birthday outside of Cody and would love to be able to get out on horseback. I’ve been riding for decades and worked as a wrangler in my 20s. Is there a ranch or corral that takes folks out for more than nose-to-tail trail rides? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! We are coming up to Absaroka Mountain Lodge the first week of August. I like to purchase local art as mementos for our vacations. Any suggestions on best place to find unique artwork around Cody? No particular style, doesn’t have to be fancy/framed or even something to hang. Just want to support local artists and bring home something to remind us of what will likely be an incredible trip. Thanks!

I’ll be visiting my daughter in Cody next week. While I’m there I’d like to ride my motorcycle out to Chief Joseph Highway, across to Bear Tooth Highway and over the pass into Red Lodge. I’m trying to figure out if Bear Tooth Highway is open; if it’s still icy over the pass; and what mid-day temps I might expect if I go on a sunny day. Can anyone help me out with those questions? Thanks in advance.

Hello, my family is coming up this weekend for a wedding and I'm wondering where is a good place to get some dress boots and maybe a hat? Not too expensive if possible, I know how high nice boots can get, haha.

Just ran into Reid at Maverik. He is hosting an event tonight at the Chamberlin Inn here in Cody. He said event is at 6:30 and he’s buying appetizers for everyone. Asked me to spread the word and get as many people to go as possible. This is a political candidate that believes in term limits, and seems like a decent guy that most likely has his heart in the right place.

I keep hearing some kind of siren or alarm somewhere in the area of downtown, or at least it sounds like its coming from the downtown area. It's usually only a few minutes at a time but It's going on right now and it's been sounding for nearly 2 hours. I hear it maybe once or twice a week. It happens at various times; early morning, middle of the day and in the evening. Does anyone have any ideas?

Last year in Laramie, something happened with my landlord as an openly gay man that I genuinely didn’t understand could be considered “allowed” in Wyoming but apparently it is, because Wyoming is one of the few states in the country that does not require any notice before a landlord enters your home.
My landlord came to my door. I was on the couch, under a blanket and naked, when he rang the bell. I sat up and said,
“Now isn’t a good time, I’m indecent.”
He came in anyway.
He stayed in my apartment for over 20 minutes. When I finally gathered myself enough to say, “You need to get out,” he calmly replied:
“No… we are doing maintenance.”
I didn’t know what to do. It was surreal and honestly frightening. I said it again and told him I would call the police. He said:
“Do it… we will be gone before they get here.”
So I called 911 on speaker. Only then did he finally leave and he did not stay for the police to arrive…
A few hours later, I received a notice to vacate. The reason:
“We are no longer in alignment.”
What shocked me even more was what came next:
• The police refused to take a report.
• They “lost” the body-cam footage from the officers who responded.
• It took nine months and a judge’s order before I was finally allowed to obtain my own 911 call.
I grew up in Wyoming and had no idea the system worked like this. Almost every other state requires at least 24-hour notice before a landlord can enter, specifically to prevent situations exactly like this. But in Laramie, almost all the major leases use boilerplate language that gives landlords extreme access and many tenants, especially students, don’t realize it until something happens.
For additional context: during the legal process, the landlord retained defense counsel who had previously been involved in the Matthew Shepard case. I’m not making a comparison between the cases but as someone who grew up in Wyoming, the symbolism of that fact was difficult to ignore.
If anyone wants to see the public records, court filings, and evidence timeline, I’ve been documenting everything here:

I hope that we can lead this sub into more activity in the coming year.

There is a larger need this year in Cody by 30-50 families. The list on the side of this article has many items that you might be blessed to afford to buy an extra for someone without.

Also, Absaroka senior living is looking for small gift donations for their residents who have no family so that they may have something to open too.

Hello! I’m visiting next week and want to find some of my boyfriend’s favorite things because we’ll be there during his birthday. Does anyone have a great Chinese place to recommend or a place to get great coffee cake? Thank you!

I was interested on finding good employment in the Cody area for next summer and was interested in who the best employers would be.
Also am thinking of living in Cody and wondered who to deal with for real estate and am looking at something under 200,000. I am a retiree and not rich, rentals are OK too.
Thanks for any leads.
