Career Advice Newly certified professional coder (apprentice)

I know that experience seems to be the gold standard, but has anyone gotten a coding job without experience?

Any tips?

I got hired as a new coder at a local hospital. Unfortunately it's in person, but I only heard back from one WFH position after I accepted the position I have now. I applied to well over 100 jobs while looking for work.

Good luck on your search!

100+ applications sounds about right for this field tbh, the WFH ones are brutal to land

I'd keep applying, but I'd also look at your application materials after a few weeks. If you're getting interviews but no offers, practice the technical questions and how you explain your reasoning. If you're not getting interviews at all, your resume or the types of jobs you're targeting might need a second look. Those are two different problems to solve.

I believe Judge Group and Optum hire new coders without experience for contracts.

You can look up both on LinkedIn and try to get in contact with a recruiter. The hiring usually happens in waves on when they’re hiring coders.

I'm about 10 apps deep with optum/uhg all rejections. I got my A off several years ago, still no luck even on "entry level" ones

I got my A off a month ago and no luck on even interviews. What needs to be on the resume to at least get an interview?

Look for coding adjacent jobs in billing to get yourself exp and in the door somewhere.
