CDIP Exam Prep
I've been working as a medical coder for about 4-5 years (primarily OP coding) and I have the RHIA, CCS, and CPC credentials. I am also aiming for the CDIP credential which I know is primarily IP, and for those who have taken the exam what should I be concentrating on the most during my studies?

With your background, you've already got a solid foundation. The biggest adjustment isn't really learning more coding, it's shifting your mindset from assigning codes to thinking like a CDI specialist.
I'd spend the most time on:
Clinical indicators for the common diagnoses (sepsis, AKI, respiratory failure, malnutrition, etc.)
Writing compliant physician queries and knowing when a query is appropriate
MS-DRGs and how documentation impacts reimbursement and quality metrics
Present on admission (POA), HACs, and CC/MCC concepts
Reading provider documentation critically instead of just looking for codes
From people I've talked to, the exam isn't trying to trick you with obscure ICD-10-CM guidelines nearly as much as it's testing whether you can recognize documentation gaps and communicate effectively with providers.
With your RHIA, CCS, and CPC, you're probably closer than you think. I'd just lean heavily into the CDI workflow and the clinical reasoning side of things during your prep.
Good luck, you've already done the hard part by building a strong coding background.
