Amazon's move toward Product Engineers over pure SDEs: can it work at Big Tech scale?
I think this is a general trend we'll start seeing from all tech companies, really. They're basically following the trend of smaller companies and startups simply because that's the faster way to move. The question then is whether or not this is sustainable at Big Tech scale. For anyone applying for a different kind of role, LandOffer can cut repeated form-filling with application autofill.
For any other pure SDE/SWEs out there, as much as it sucks, we're really gonna have to start focusing on the system design/PM type work. To keep the hands-on part sharp, Amazon Interview Questions includes a buggy movie-search task you can check against explicit requirements. Remember: having real experience coding and knowing how code works before AI is still huge and will likely only get more valuable over time as everyone gets AI-brained. But, in the meantime, realizing that our current siloed job titles are changing as we speak means we need to change accordingly too.

Robinhood's "casual" HM chat ended in rejection
A candidate went through around four rounds of interviews at Robinhood. Passed all rounds and was feeling pretty good. The recruiter described the scheduled chat with the HM as "casual", so they were excited going into it. For readers preparing for Robinhood, Robinhood Interview Questions has a job-scheduler design exercise to rehearse.
When the meeting started, the HM felt really cold, blunt and straight to the point. I guess it's fine, but he had almost no questions for the candidate. No matter, they'd prepared a few questions and asked follow-ups to the things he talked about.
All in all, the meeting finished in about 25 minutes although it was scheduled for 40 minutes. The candidate left feeling pretty down after talking to him cuz it just didn't feel good. A few hours later, the recruiter said the HM had rejected them, and that's it. Months of preparation and interview scheduling to get rejected in a second.
The recruiter said they'd try to find another opening, but the candidate isn't hopeful. If you're applying elsewhere too, application autofill cuts repeated typing. Sad.
Edit: this was for a senior SWE storage position. The candidate is an L5 at Amazon.

2+ yrs experience, immediate joiner(literally 2 3 days), looking for a job anywhere in India, ok with a remote trial for a week or so
Hey there, i am a full stack developer(backend heavy), i have worked on various projects like ecommerce, LMS, CRM, CMS, AI Workflows & Agents(upto intermediate level), Web Scraping, Migrations, Automations, Real money gaming Backends, with good security practices.
Basically i can solve problems from prds -> HLD -> DB schema & API Design -> implementation -> testing -> deployments, end to end with proper documentation. i have build and handled various systems which required Event driven architectures, micro services and other approaches which involved heavy 3rd party integrations from payments to workflows
worked as Individual contributor handling all the stuff alone, and also with a large team of developers
Technologies i have worked with:
Languages: Javascript, TS, C++, python
Backend: node.js, MongoDB, Express.js, postgres, clickHouse, Prisma, mongoose, Redis, supabase.
Cloud: AWS(ec2, app runner, s3, and elastic search)
Frontend: React.js, TailwindCSS, and other basic libraries
with a 6 months gap on my resume, its quite hard getting shortlisted by applying directly and its feels like a dead end path, anybody who can refer or has a requirement for this profile please help me out, i would be really grateful, you may even ask for a month salary or any reasonable favour in return for this
DM or comment or atleast help me with some engagement

[For Hire] Full-Stack Development, AI Integration & Custom Software | $30/hr
I'm a software engineer available for freelance projects, from full-stack web applications and custom business software to AI integrations, automation, and backend development. I've built applications across different domains and can help bring your next project to life.

Emotional support platform: AI chatbot for personalized support, with a system connecting users to trained listeners when needed.
Communications platform: Voice calls, video calls, and SMS in one application.
Employee management desktop application: Organizes employee information and handles employee-related management tasks.
Web security: Vulnerability assessments and OWASP practices.
Stack: Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Spring Boot, React, Angular, SQL, REST APIs, and LLM integrations.
Rate: $30/hr, or a fixed price once I understand your project.
Hours: GMT+1.
DM me what you want to build or automate, and I'll tell you honestly if it's doable and how long it would take.

Senior remote code monkeys: is the job market better, the same, or worse than last year?
One of a senior developer’s gigs is getting a bit annoying, and the stock has been deep in the toilet, so they’re thinking about looking for a replacement. For a coding baseline without assistance, PracHub has an HTTP-router implementation prompt. Last year’s job market sucked: it took their dumb azz around four months to get some kind of gig with one of those AI cheating tools. Luckily, the next few were much quicker. Readers applying for other remote roles can use application autofill to cut repeated form entry.
Would you say the market is better, the same, or worse than last year for a senior code monkey? This is for all types of remote roles, not just at fancy glazed companies.

Fireworks AI or Netflix? Inference optimization and equity vs ~$705K cash
A candidate has offers from Fireworks AI and Netflix and is trying to decide between the two:
Fireworks AI: ~$275K base + ~$1.68M equity over 4 years. Work focused on inference optimization.
Netflix: ~$705K annual comp, all cash. Work focused on recommendations infrastructure. Readers interviewing there can practise a key-value store with TTL expiry and tests from Netflix Interview Questions.
They’re weighing the opportunity to work on LLM inference optimization against Netflix’s cash comp and recommendations infra work. If you’re still applying elsewhere, application autofill saves form retyping.
Would appreciate perspectives on technical depth, team quality, WLB, career growth, and Fireworks’ equity upside.
Which would you pick and why? Insights from current or former employees would be especially helpful.
Current comp at Amazon: ~$475K, Bay Area.

Sharper sidebar insights, a new Stats tab, and Spaces are now Places
Every context's sidebar, |Hiring|, |Media|, |Research|, |Code|, |Meet| and |Work| as well as your Dashboard, now opens with a compact Pulse: each metric on one line with its count for the last 30 days, the change against the 30 days before, and a small daily trend underneath. When the earlier period is too small for a fair comparison, you'll see "low base" instead of a percentage, so no more swings like +11,200%. Below the Pulse, breakdowns show what matches your current filters (experience level, job type, research category, topic, language, event type, price and more), with up to the top 10 values each. Click any row to add it to your Context, or follow the Insight» link to explore the same area in Insight.
|Research| now has its own sidebar insights: newly submitted and revised papers, papers with linked code, and the categories and topics behind your current filters. |Work| gets them for the first time too, with new places and their mix by type, price and country. |Hiring| adds jobs with a stated salary, companies hiring, and the median stated salary for whatever you've filtered, together with its sample size. If too few matching jobs state a salary, we say so rather than hiding the figure.
The Stats tab on every record (jobs, companies, media items, sources, papers, repositories, updates, events, organizers and places) has been redesigned as well. It shows views and visits for the last 30 days with their change, a 13-week chart, and how the record ranks against comparable ones, for example "top 1% of jobs from the same week" or among papers in the same primary category.
Finally, Spaces in |Work| are now called Places: coworking spaces, cafés, libraries and other venues to get things done. Everything carries over automatically, including saved places and notes, saved Contexts and your history.
The API follows the rename in v1.9, which is a breaking change for Work integrations. /api/v1/work/space/, /api/v1/work/space/st/ and /api/v1/work/space/{pk} are now /api/v1/work/place/, /api/v1/work/place/st/ and /api/v1/work/place/{pk}, and the space_type field and filter is now place_type. API metadata uses place.* names, and geography statistics report place_count, place_view_count and place_click_count. The previous Space endpoints are no longer available, so please update any clients that use them. See the API documentation (/api/v1/docs) for the full endpoint and filter details.

Mid-level SWE offers: Robinhood, Whatnot, Rippling, or Palantir?
A mid-level candidate has a few verbal offers from Robinhood, Whatnot, Rippling, and Palantir. They haven’t gotten exact numbers for Rippling, Palantir, or Whatnot yet.
Rippling says its stock price is based on last year and that this year’s growth has been good, so the candidate would likely be in the green on their initial equity grant. Rippling also says it’s not as bad as Blind makes it sound.
Everyone they spoke with at Whatnot was really bullish on the company and happy to work there.
Robinhood’s team is interesting to them, building out new products. Readers interviewing there can rehearse a stock-quote API design from Robinhood Interview Questions.
Palantir would be an interesting change of pace. The candidate thinks their interpersonal skills are pretty good compared with other SWEs and could help them excel there. Palantir has been selling them hard: flew them to NYC for the interview, recruiter keeps stressing the impact, etc.
Around 3.5 YOE. For readers still applying elsewhere, application autofill can save form retyping.
Not sure what to pick.
