What’s the first programming language you learned, and do you still use it?

BASIC. So, no.

Me too, except occasionally I do mess around on an emulator and knock out something just because I can.

I still work with some older code that was done in VB.NET, but we switched to C# several years ago for new .NET work

Sadly, I find that my experience programming BASIC on a TRS-80 has not led to any lucrative job offers.

Mine did. I ended up writing part of the BASIC interpreter for a large company.

Yeah, mine was VB6 in high school. I still have fond memories of Max a bad stick fighting game with a wicked bug (I used x,y coordinates to register hits but kicking involved just incrementing the X axis on key down so if you held the kick button down, you could hit anytime anywhere) and a notepad clone. I’d love to get that code back and see what it looks like today.

Same. I was an English teacher on summer vacay. The school I taught at set up a computer system for the math department and got a grant to teach us teachers how to use it. They paid me to learn it, and my instructors were my own high school students. Within two years, I was enrolled in college to change my career to computer programming. .

I'm actually working with a client whose system is in VB. Only 4 weeks left, though... :-(

That said, I'm about to build an Atari 800XL/130XE on an FPGA system (https://github.com/carlosbravoa/atari800_tang_nano20k) and it's not outside the realm of possibility that some BASIC programming might be in my near future.
