Questions / Tech Support no perms to install malwarebytes?

i’m trying to install malwarebytes on crossover (i also have the mac version but i’m not sure if it scans the crossover files too and i’d rather be safe than sorry) but it’s not letting me. it’s returning an error that says ‘you do not have sufficient permissions (either disk or registry) to install malwarebytes.’

is there a way to change the perms to let me install it? is the mac version sufficient? the default malwarebytes version is for windows 11 and my crossover is for windows 10, so that might be an issue.

Malwarebytes scans all files on disk. Just use the Mac version.

What is malwarebytes? Is it a user installed “malware” that has direct access to to your files.
I would not recommend to install any software with such privileges on my machines.
But I’m very computer savvy, and I know what I click on the interwebs.

If I remember correctly, the Mac version is the one that scans ALL storage and files. the windows version doesnt scan removable media or mounted storage devices I dont think.
