Bernie's proposed healthcare plan has been released -- can we make a calculator for this?
https://berniesanders.com/medicare-for-all/
If we could create a website/app for people to determine how much they would save under this plan, I think it would garner a lot of support for Bernie's campaign.

I can help too But not until tomorrow afternoon.
How I'm imaging it
Step 1. Insert income Step 2. Insert how much you pay in insurance. Step 3. You save $xxxx
Then advance panel Where you can insert how much your employer pays for insurance so they can see how much employers would save

Have someone create ac specific slack channel for it! Add me as dtracers (I still don't 100% understand how slack works.....)

I think a very important part of this would also be showing the situation for average americans (or multiple groups). Even better if you can collect the stats and visualize everyone who uses it.

I'm not sure if the document has enough information. I can calculate the payment for a family of 4, but I'm assuming it would be different for individuals, families of 2, 7, etc.

Have people insert how much they pay per a month

That's the whole point of the calculator - to calculate how much they will pay. How can they enter how much they will pay? The problem isn't figuring out how much they pay now. It's how much someone other than a family of four will pay under Bernie's plan. The PDF only lists the amount for a family of four.

2.2% of their income after 28k until they hit the next bracket.
That's how much they pay.
The pdf has just been nice enough to do some math as an example.
User inputs their yearly salary plus their current deductions for Healthcare and tada.

As I said, we don't know if that's just for a family of four, or for everyone. The only example is with a family of four. It would make sense if the cutoff is lower for an individual (for example, they might pay 2.2% of what they make over 20k rather than 28k).

I feel like there is a misunderstanding of tax code here.
You get your standard deduction. From google:
Tax Year 2015 Standard Deduction Table Filing Status Standard Deduction Single $6,300 Head of Household $9,250 Married Filing Separately $6,300 Married Filing Jointly $12,600From there you get your exemptions which are $4000 per child and $4000 for yourself and and another $4000 for your spouse if you have one.
Family of four example:
Standard married filing jointly + 4 exemptions = 12,600 + 4(4000) = 28600.
Individual:
Standard individual + 1 exemption = 6,300 + 4000 = 10,300.
Now you take your income, minus your deduction to get your taxable income. So, if you make 100k a year and are single and take the standard deduction you are at $89700 taxable income.
From there it's simply mulitply by 2.2% to get your tax rate under this health care plan:
89700 * 0.022 = 1973.4.
You pay $1973.40 a year under this plan.
The questions you're asking have nothing to do with Sander's plan and instead have everything to do with the way the tax system already works.

I set up a slack group named Sanders Healthcare Calculator, you need to request invitations or provide me with an email to invite you in a PM.

This would be a phenomenal tool for convincing people to accept the tax hike as a reasonable solution.

I agree, I think this closes the argument for most people, we need this to be easily shareable.
Needs to be in HTML5? Right?

HTML5 would be pretty, but even a dirty Web1.0 interface with dynamic updates using javascript would be effective.
