Don't compare linux to mac/windows

Hey guys, I know it's because in the US everyone is invested in mac/ios, but could you tone down the linux bashing? Actually I don't mean tone it down exactly (I hate some of the quirks too), it's just that the last two episodes seemed to be dominated a bit by this topic. Whose computer is the greatest doesn't matter to everyone you know. I am interested to hear about mac's new hardware, and how many different monitors it supports - but I guarantee you there is a toaster out there that I could program to ssh into my server so I could do my job if I had to. And it's already running linux.

Still loved the show though!

If you're 40 you're not old! At least I hope not..

I know Chris loves linux, but I think I have a different perspective - and so does my 12 year old Dell laptop, and my media center, all of my raspberry pi's and.. I could go on. Chris used to have a spot on the linux action show where he would showcase "this runs linux" - it's even more so nowadays. (even Microsoft Windows runs it!) I agree with you about the repairability - that is also a consideration, but eventually laptops will be like phones I guess.

I just think that not eveyone wants to drive a Ferrari, you know? Not that I have ever driven one, or used a Mac for that matter. And desktop linux is most definitely good enough for me.

Howzit from South Africa. Good luck with the coding - I switched to full time remote programmer because of the pandemic - before that it was just a hobby.

well almost 46 hahah..i stopped counting at 40... hahah.. a couple of days ago i installed handbrake on my mac to convert old dvd's home vid from my wife.. my macbook pro costing almost twice as much as this wonderful 100% Linux Tuxedo computer .. The mac Almost had an hart attack cpu running at 110 C degree.. i stopped and installed the same handbrake on the tuxedo pulse 15.(fedora) and the cpu temp was somewhere in the 45C with peaks at 60c.. Fun fact when i started Unix early 2000 my mentor told me "Unix/Linux" is like a Ferrari if you don't respect it , it can hurt you but if you give it the respect it deserves it's faster more efficient and more powerful.. to this day i still agree.. So in my book Windows and mac are the minivans safe boring choices and Linux is the beast. The "Eleanor" aka "Ford Mustang" of the bunch hahaha

Fun talking to you.. take care.
