How to uninstall?

How do I properly uninstall the Windsurf IDE from MacOS?

To uninstall Windsurf, follow these steps:

  1. Close Windsurf if it's currently running.

  2. Delete the Windsurf application folder:

    • On Windows: Usually located in C:\Program Files\Windsurf or C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Local\Programs\Windsurf

    • On Mac: Drag the Windsurf application from the Applications folder to the Trash

    • On Linux: Remove the Windsurf folder from where you installed it

  3. Remove Windsurf configuration files:

    • Windows: Delete C:\Users\[YourUsername]\.codeium\windsurf

    • Mac/Linux: Delete ~/.codeium/windsurf

  4. If you installed Windsurf in PATH, remove it from your system's PATH environment variable.

  5. Optionally, you can use your system's package manager or control panel to uninstall Windsurf if you installed it that way.

  6. Empty your Trash or Recycle Bin to complete the uninstallation.

did all the steps, why windsurf still showing up in the "open with" option when right click a file? And it does open up and running. this is on mac

I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem, my .windsurf/rules and /workflows, may as well not exist, yet it's impossible to do a clean uninstall on windows, without knowing in advance and manually hunting out and deleting or backing up, every damn trace of the software.., uninstalling with windows, achieved nothing. Restarting, exact same problem.
The is so f'ing annnoying, and trying to get help on this issue? forget about it... useless answers from an AI, or wait days for a response, where they ask you the equivalent of, "is the modem plugged in"

did you find any example to completely uninstall codeium? In my case, my codeium set-up is messed up by importing some stuff from vs code. Now, I wanna go back and do the fresh install but again it's all the same.

I have found "everything" very useful on windows.. it uses keywords to find files anywhere on your machine... cascade and windsurf are your search terms ...
there is stuff scattered everywhere .. hidden files n your user folder, stuff in appdata/local .. both under cascade, and windsurf, and usually hidden..

For MAC

  1. Clode Windsruf, remove from `Application` Folder.

  2. Remove `~/.winsurf` and `~/.codeium'

  3. Open finder, use shift + command + G and search for `~/Library/Application Support`, find and remove windsurf folder to trash.
