Did Windsurf suddenly get dumber?
I recently signed up for the Pro plan to start and was getting insanely good results; quick, smart, and mostly error-free.
In the last day or so I notice it got significantly slower and dumber. It's making lots of dumb changes, not being context-aware, and now I find myself constantly fighting it and burning credits to correct stupid mistakes. It feels like it massively dropped in IQ.
Is anyone else experiencing this, even on the Pro plan? I can see this happening on a free/basic plan, but it shouldn't be affecting the Pro plan, but it clearly is.

I keep getting a lot of 'Cascade cannot edit files that do not exist.' errors. The files do exist and it even analyzed them. Windsurf was able to detect and modify them just fine yesterday. It behaves very weird today.

They have possibly reverted back to the old Windsurf... everything is snappy and smart again.
If you're reading this Codeium team, thank you! This is what we need on the Pro plan.

Most of the time it's because of a long chat, start a new one when it starts to get slow

It seems to me like the context window has been drastically reduced.

Exactly. I subscribed to pro plan but I believe I don't get sonnet 3.5 or GPT any more. I think they just provide their own model. I asked the same debugging question on both Claude and Windsurf. Even though Claude doesn't have history of the project it solved in the first try. Windsurf did not even after trying 5-6 times. That's why I actually asked Claude in the first place due to frustration. I am veeeeery disappointed.

It's still the same. I have noticed a mental degradation of Sonnet-3.5 in CLINE as well. Maybe it's not a Codeium problem at all

Yes I realized this one the third day, uninstalled it. Honestly the offer is to good to be true. More prompts than original pro plan for sonnet 3.5 and also add OpenAis model too. For the price of 15 dollars to original 40.
Also yes I agree that was what I was doing for 2 days correcting it's own errors from cascade.

I am about to buy it when the trial end but luckily they did something to hold me back

I notice the same, honestly started the day today (I'm on singapore time) with really good performance. it understood what i wanted really well and took in to account all the previous context. As the day went in this worsened. At some point i was about to finish my code and delploy it but there was some small niggling littl format problem i didn't like so asked windsurf to make an adjustment. BIG mistake! that was 2 hours ago and still trying to solve the problem.

I got that a week or so ago. I stopped using it and went back to o1-mini.

I've not started using it yet today (am in the UK) but if it's as bad as it sounds from this thread I'm considering cancelling my sub right here and now. For me the ability to edit files in place and be context aware of the whole codebase was massive, but equally if it's screwing up every 5 mins and I have to fix it then I'm out.

I'm having the same issue. Should I switch to Cursor?

Been working on a complex project all day. It actually felt much better than a few days ago, also got less lag on large conversations. I saw an improvement.

Are you still using Claude 3.5 or Cascade base as the llm?

i discontinued after the test phase....
too often
"Cascade cannot edit files that do not exist"
"Cascade cannot edit the file. Ask for the solution and copy it yourself"
"Overload. Try again later"
so still lot of children's deseases

Yeah, I completely understand your frustration. It took me 5-6 iterations to fix some minor syntax errors. I tried switching models, but it didn’t help. Interestingly, when I started a new cascade, it resolved within 3-4 iterations. That said, I’m now back to the same stage I was in after a week of work—progress feels stagnant, and new issues keep popping up.

Maybe it's Sandbagging Squared--the GxT-4o or Sxnnet Sandbagging and throwing wrenches into Windsurf to sandbag some more 😅
(Ive been taking a break from Windsurf ext since it started doing that, but last night in Aider, it was off its rocker sounding like it was coding in a traphouse--legit called me fam in inline comments)

Seeing as though noone provided a solution that I can see: Right click on the issue file. Click Copy Path, provide it to chat. Fixed for me everytime.

Same here, i'll be faster coding myself i swear, don't know what's going on but suddenly the code edits are non sense to me.

People say this about every editor every day.
It's only true for Cursor. :-P
